Raddus Gambit

By RogueCommander, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Does this work in theory? Have two speedy ships, one with the commander the other with an effective speed 5. Split them in opposite directions, force a choice, then get one of behind your primo target to deploy the LMC80?

I've played a fair amount of proxy Raddus and can say I think dropping a big ship is a lot of fun, but the opportunity cost of losing your admiral for that trick isn't worth it.

You drop that big ship, but the moment it hits the table you effectively no longer have an admiral. And that big ship wants Ackbar, or Madine, or whatever.

There are two ways I have seen him be successful- first was essentially using him to forward deploy your large ship turn 1. You just stack your ships on the leading edge of the deploy and then turn 1 drop the large where the long range dice are going to be in range on his first activation. Cr90 heading speed 3 straight at you? Boom. First round you can maybe take a ship off the table if you roll big (or tech yourself with the likes of a Defiance, QBT, Leading shots home one). Or make sure you get the first volley at a large or medium ship a turn before their dials are expecting it.

The other way is just guaranteeing you get the benefit from any ship that loves Hyperspace assault.

I have been running a Hammerhead swarm with a trc vette and admonition. Sending admo into hyperspace and clogging the lane with the TFA hammerheads so you can drop admo into a double side arc on a big enemy ship that they can't get out of. Worst case scenario, they are still hitting a hammerhead and not Admo while it rakes their rear zones.

All that to say- I do not think a 3 ship variant of Raddus will work. When you drop him, you still only have 3 ships and menial squad coverage. Even in the best case scenario, you don't have the damage to win, and you give them a 2 ship table opportunity especially vulnerable to the likes of an ET Demolisher

Raddus will work with Profoundity. Deploying 2 ships after turn 1 will be golden. Just imagine Prof and Admo dropping in from hyperspace :)

If you're talking about using the Profundity title on Admonition you'll be Disappointed ?

Why? It can hide a small ship. Admo is a small ship. What am I missing?

Has to be Command 1.

MC30s have command 2.

I have to think that Raddus is going to synergize well with his actual capital ship.
