List guidance - Rebel

By AxolotlQuestions, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Inspired by a couple of topics on the forum, I ran this on a casual night:

T-70 X-Wing: •Poe Dameron (37)
Integrated Astromech (0)
•Black One (1)
Intensity (2)
•BB-8 (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)

Auzituck Gunship: Wookie Liberator (35)
Expertise (4)
Tactician (2)
•Baze Malbus (3)

T-70 X-Wing: •Jess Pava (27)
Integrated Astromech (0)
•R3-A2 (2)

Total: 99/100

It worked pretty well, as I managed to put a decent amount of stress on my opponent as they came in to enage me, which limited their manoeuvres and let me joust them on my terms. I'm not sure about the upgrades though. Any tips?

I’m not a fan of Baze. For two points more, you can get Gunner, which allows you to take another shot at your original target. I get you’re trying spread stress around, but there is potential for Baze to not kick in if there isn’t two ships in your arc. Just a personal preference, though. You would have to lower your EP to to upgrade to it, and you may not want to give up Expertise.

On that note, though, I’m guessing Gunner and Tactition together would double-stress a ship, yes? They’re two separate attacks.

They do, AFAIK, and I started with Gunner and dropped to Baze to make the points fit.

There could be some value in triple stressing one ship and having Poe sit behind it and take it down.

Poe really wants autothrusters. I would take the points to do it from the Furball Flyer. Expertise is a lot of points on a ship that wants to miss 1 attack on purpose every round. Changing Expertise for a 0-point EPT would give you enough points to upgrade Baze to Gunner and keep Poe alive against turrets.

I really prefer ptl on bb-8 Poe so that he can boost off the bb-8 roll and really reposition well.

I'd consider cutting expertise in favor of gunner. Double stress counts for a lot and the extra shot of gunner should help push damage through. Lightning reflexes seems like it would pay off for a cheap price as you could double stress on the first pass then turn around behind them to hound them all game.

Baze seems low value, there are a lot of low-agility ships out there now where deliberate missing seems like a weak strategy. Personally, I'd rather take Breach Specialist to help protect the Liberator, and then upgrade Integrated Astromech to Autothrusters on Poe.

I also kinda like Predator on Tactician Auzitucks. It's a bit less offense if you Reinforce, but more damage if you're free to Focus. It'd also grab an extra point towards an initiative bid, which is pretty useful with an arc-dodging Poe like this one.

Auto-thursters on Poe for sure. I do like the baze/tactician concept and wouldn't mind trying it out. Things work better in practice than theory sometimes so I'd like to see it on the board before writing it off. I would ditch Expertise, go Predator on the wookie and add thrusters on Poe.

This way you can reroll a hit to a blank for example if you need to miss with the wookies to prompt a second shot on the more desirable target. (ie: re-roll the hit to potentially not hit dash so you can hit Nym). I'd have to refresh the rules but I think you can predator the second attack.

These are all good ideas. I had to skip game night this week, but I am looking forward to trying them out.
