Soon gonna arrange Battle of Yavin. There will be exact 22 X, 8 Y and bunch of turrets and ties and more. Stay tune.

But you can only have 8 ties and vader as per movie rules... oh yeah, whoever originally thought only 8 tie fighters would engage 30 rebel alliance craft was snorting something.
Edited by FlyingAnchorsi only saw 4 Y-wings in the movie

There were at least 12 TIEs. Yes, I know, for movie production they only had 8, but for an accurate Black Squadron, there will have to be all of the unique TIE pilots that were in Black Squadron (most of the unique TIE pilots), with the rest of the squad being, well, BS Pilots.
I have bought turrets and more X-wings than I really need to recreate the Battle of Yavin, just haven't got around to playing it. Also need to make a DeathStar trench board.
I was considering when using Luke and Wedge I would reduce their PS to 6 and 7 respectively, just to reflect their experience level at Yavin when compared to say Hoth and Endor.
Adywan's Yavin battle have far more Tie fighter on screen ! ![]()
Only Vader’s Black Squadron was authorized to launch. The DS commanders were relying on turbolasers to defeat the snubfighters, which were deemed a minimal threat. Between the battle hardened TIEs and the extensive ground fire the rebels could only hold out so long before catching a hit. The rebels were also made up of old guys and bush pilots, not exactly the galaxy’s best. Plus Blue Squadron, the best Squadron, was sacrificed to obtain the DS plans. If General Merrick was at Yavin Even Vader wouldn’t have stood a chance against his mighty stache.
Still missing Pops, all the unique title such as Red 5, we could also go with some unique TIE Fighter titles as well.

The Magnum PI of space.

No, Neither Luke, Wedge, Biggs. Only Vader.
Probably next year will play Battle of Yavin.
Turrets are soon done. Time and unfinished painting.
Rules are soon written. Will play different: X-Wing have S-foils that gives free boost or barrel roll + T-roll + Ties s-loop and target lock. Y-Wing inbuilt dorsal turret and + titel. Torpedoes are only used for "the hole".
Don't forget defenders were there too according to battlefront!

Versio from Battlefront II was there too. And, in Battlefront II: Inferno, we find out that her squadron consisted of only 6 fighters, her code number is Sigma 3, rather than Black 3, and we find that she has never met Vader.
It is possible that Black Squadron as a whole was not launched at Yavin - just Vader and two wingmen from it - with the rest of the ships being called Sigma Squadron instead.
