Quickdraw RAC

By Aces1973, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Going to a local tourney tomorrow. Want to fly something different and decided Imperial would be the silliest thing to take :)

I have not flown the decimator alot and as i have 2 i have decided it will hit the table. I love the Sf and quickdraw's ability is very scary.

RAC (61) - adaptability, EU, Gunner, Darth, Kylo.

Quickdraw (39) - Expertise, FCS, Special Ops training, lightweight frame, sensor clustor.

The idea is RAC hopefully gets to shoot twice and Vader any squishy ships and hopefully squeeze through a crit for the kylo affect.

Quickdraw hopefully gets to revenge hit without losing too many shields using the focus to evade if needed.

Any ideas? any major problems apart from i am playing imps and rebels and scum are both better :) ?

Drop Vader on RAC and Sensor cluster on Quickdraw. Invest in Hotshot copilot.

Shoot first with RAC to strip tokens, then shoot again. Then shoot with QD and if they shot you, shot again. Also gives you a small initiative bid.

i used it against a rebel and then a scum list. It was brutal, now I understand why people hate Kylo and Hotshot Copilot on RAC, it seems almost mean.

But then we Imps need something mean at the moment...?

If you're using Kylo just for blinded pilot crits, stick with EU. If you think you might use them all to either push past shields, drop their PS to 0 or discourage them from bumping, you'll want to trade it out for something passive. Anti-pursuit lasers or Ion projector are good options, or Countermeasures if you think you'll fly against ordinance. If you make any change to your list, the most important change you can add is the Dauntless title. Without it, you get shut down from bumping, but with it, the pain train has no breaks. Palp or Gunner/HSCP comes down to a style choice, but both are very strong options. I find that you don't often miss with RAC, especially if you are making a lot of range 1 and 2 shots, so take the one you think you can fly around the best. Expertise is heavy on QD, but it does a lot of work and plays well if you can avoid the stress. I'd definitely drop sensor clusters first to make room for other upgrades; at the very least dauntless. Expertise or Vader should probably go next if you need more points. If you're looking for a cheap option while keeping your PS the same on both ships, VI on RAC and adaptability on QD put them both at 10, ASTS can be nasty on QD although you tend to get burned out pretty quick. Expert handling can be great for countering ordinance, or intensity can occasionally give you some tokens although I personally haven't had much success with it.
