For those that play FFG Star Wars and will be getting Genesys, are you going to use the SW dice for Genesys or but new dice?
Has it been confirmed that the dice are identical (with the change in symbols of course)?

The values are the same, but some of the positions are switched. Essentially, they are the same.
My playgroup intends to use the same dice. We've all made the investment of two or three sets of Star Wars dice each and the 'sell' to move to Genesys is possible because the dice and symbols are relatively similar. If they hadn't been, the group wouldn't be so positive about Genesys, as they've loved the narrative way the dice work for Star Wars.
I'm not sure when my group might play Genesys (we have probably another year on the Star Wars campaign I'm running), but when we do, we'll definitely use our Star Wars dice!

My game's been running for the last two years, on and off - each PC is roughly on about 850 XP (!) - we'll probably finish around Christmas-time so it will New Year, new system (sort of) for us
I kicked my fantasy version off last week. We used Star Wars dice. No one burst into flames. That is all.
I plan to use the Star Wars dice, because we have so many of them already. Plus the group already knows how to interpret the symbols at a glance.
I'menough of a completist that I'll get several sets of Genesys dice, but I'm sure players will use the star wars dice and app in my games.

I could see myself doing the same even though I am busting at the seems with SW down dice.
I want to buy some dice sets, but idk, I've already have 3 sets form SW.
I have nine sets of
Star Wars
dice and I plan on getting no less than three sets of GeneSys dice.
I'll probably stick with the Star Wars dice. As much as I like the concept of Genesys, the symbols they're using are... eh. I think Star Wars dice are much easier to read quickly, they've got a pretty strong visual language to them that the Genesys symbols are lacking.
Gotta get the new dice. If they bundle a set with a beginner's box ... which I hope they do one ... then that will be cool too.
Have they announced a beginner's box adventure? Or any rumors of the sort?
If you roll Star Wars dice with GeneSys it hastens the coming of the apocalypse. It will not be a cool apocalypse, either.
The inverse is true as well.
Buy the correct dice.
Would be nice to have, at least, a table with the symbol equivalence, in the case of using the SW dices to play Genesys with a group who haven't played SW. Something easy to print anyway.
Personally, I'm on the fence about buying the Genesis dice. On one hand, I have seven sets of the SW dice already. On the other hand, all the Genesis books will be using the new dice symbols.
That means we still have to learn the new symbols and if we're using the SW dice, having to mentally convert the symbols between the two sets every time we're reading the books, consulting tables during the game, etc.
It might just be simpler to buy a few new sets.
At the very least, buying new sets supports the line and keeps it viable.

But like people already said in the L5R... we don't need, we don't deserve and FFG don't need a new set of dices for every new RPG to keep them alive. Star Wars has enought good books to keep SW live. Idk how much the dices impact the FFG SW income, but it's insane to create a new dice set per RPG. I know that could make sense to create new set dices everytime, but... it's not that important at all.

The dice are never a must have. The Star Wars books have a conversion chart for standard polyhedral. The app in Star Wars is cheap compared to equivalent number of dice. Plus if someone absolutely had it in their head to have dice but didn't want the FFG ones with paint pens you could mark up standard dice to stand in.

But I guess anyone here knows that this is absolutely useless to play SW/Genesys. Every roll will need 123132 minutes to be solved. No one try to play in this way.

Hey, how about not cherry pick and quote me in entirety. I pointed out there are other options, but at the end of the day no matter how much grease you use some wheels just wanna squeak for the sake of squeaking.
I know, take easy. The other alternatives are good, I agree with you. I thought I don't need to talk about points in common in this case. I never said we need to buy dices to play currently.

... yet
In this case ffg had to make new dice. The symbols on the star wars dice are proprietary to lucasfilm. They can't use them in the genesys book (s).
Yes I was going to say they're obviously linked to the SW IP.
I don't have a problem with bespoke dice; it helps get non-SW roleplayers in who don't have the peripherals already and who weren't ever interested in roleplaying Star Wars.
