Crits and minions

By Seguleh, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi, one realy short question: Can you crit a minion group multiple times?

Normaly you can just hit one guy with one crit, and for every "additional crit" you would do, you get +10 on the crit table. But since a minion is just dead, this logic doesn't work here. So... can you crit them multiple times? Or asked with an example: If I have a weapon that has crit value 2, and I get 6 advantages, are 3 guys dead + the damage (wounds) I do?

Short answer: No. You can only crit a target once per hit, so if you aren't using a weapon that can get multiple hits (two-weapon combat, Linked or Auto-fire weapons), you can only get the one crit. You can still technically activate your weapon's crit rating multiple times on the minion group, it just doesn't do anything.

Long answer: Still technically no, by the rules. However, I've slightly altered the rules of how Minions react to crits at my table. I add your weapon's Vicious rating to the bonus damage a crit causes to the Minion group, and allow you to activate crits multiple times, adding 1+ Vicious Rating to the bonus damage for each additional crit inflicted. This is entirely a house-rule, but it hasn't hurt at all since I implemented it, and it makes the characters feel extra-cool every so often, so I count it as a win :) .

The minion isn't dead. They are out of the fight from either wounds or crits. What happens to them after the fight is up to the GM.

Yeah it's up to the GM to determine what their state of being is when they are defeated regarding minions. They could be dead or they could just be knocked unconscious or too badly wounded to act fast enough for structured time.

So dead in every way but name.

No, my point is that by the rules the minion isn't dead at wounds exceeding threshold. So, it is possible that the group of PCs rush into a room, take down the stormtroopers that are there and then rush on to the next place to get to their objective. A week later they encounter a group of stormtroopers and several of them are survivors from that event last week...

It's not like the PCs would really know they were the same Troopers anyway because they're all dressed the same to remove individuality. ^_^

Unless one or more of them said "You, again? Get them!"

What do you mean a week later? 5 rounds stays busy in that other room, but someone found the troopers and the chain of medicine started while the group tried to get the MacGuffin. Sweet revenge when the minion group ambushes the players on the exit. This time better prepared, spread out and with explosives already in place. ;-)
