Ravos's Steadfast [Fear 2] - Errata/FAQ Needed?

By Totengraber, in Runewars Rules Questions

From the new preview from Ravos, we have "Steadfast [Fear 2]". It is the first instance of a number in the Steadfast keyword. The rules for Steadfast say this:

Quote

Steadfast [X]: While a unit with this keyword is suffering a morale test, the cards of the type specified by X are treated as having one additional morale icon.

Rules as written, the X would be replaced by "Fear 2", which is not a card type. "Fear" is a card type, but X is not the number "2", so there isn't "2" additional morale icons.

We know what the rule intent is, though. Perhaps there needs to be an errata/FAQ for this new instance.

This doesn't fall under 45.7 either since it's not multiple instances either. It's just one instance of the keyword.

Quote

If an upgrade or other game effect causes a unit to have one or more instances of a keyword that has an “X” value, treat the unit as having a single instance of that keyword with an “X” value equal to the sum of the “X” value of all of that
unit’s other instances of that keyword.

Every expansion so far has included a rules insert explaining any expanded, modified or new rules.

We should probably wait until we have the Uthuk in hand. The online pdf of the RRG has already been updated and amended, I'm sure it will be again.

I'm guessing they got a bit ahead of themselves and added Fear. Steadfast is for fear always. they probably added fear because people didn't always remember what fear was. normally the card explains everything. Steadfast [fear 2] may be them making it easy for people to remember steadfast is fear and not confusion or doubt.

It's not Fear, but the numerical value that is new. Ardus has Steadfast Fear already.

Pretty obviously, it is meant to indicate that Fear morale cards cost 2 more than normal instead of 1, but the rule for the numerical value isn't in the RRG (yet).

Yep

Yeah, I think it is obviously what is intended. I wonder if they add a note about this or not.
