There is an omni present sexism.
So when people complain that they don't like something and someone starts banning them its the people raising the issue that are on a witch hunt?

Edited by TheShardIf sexism wasnt already omnipresent no one would get hurt by a joke like that...
Someone people just have had enough. I don't have to experience sexism, just like i don't experience racism... So I'm not the one to determine whats the line. The people who deal with that **** are.
Again what's the purpose of an ffg sw rpg group? Is it to advance the game to as many people possible? Does this aid in it or not? Moderator was treating it as his personal fiefdom not as a welcoming community for swrpg players.

Just now, Stan Fresh said:So there's no witch hunt, but there is one. Right. Whatever fits your narrative.
Perhaps I was not clear? When I said that one post is not a witch hunt, I should have instead said that one post alone does not constitute a witch hunt; perhaps merely saying that one post alone is not a witch hunt would have been sufficient to express my meaning.
I will make one concession on my theory that seeing sexism hidden in a common expression indicates a personal witch hunt; it may merely be paranoia on your part, and not an active search for evil-bad-wrong-think where there is none.

Nowhere did I say that the people accusing the ban-happy moderator of sexism were on a witch hunt. I did accuse @Stan Fresh of being on a witch hunt for seeing hidden sexism in the expression "witch hunt." A common expression which was applied to constant media attention on a political figure.
Nowhere was it stated that the banned Facebook members were on a witch hunt.

It's not really hidden.

Nowhere, huh? " I just don't go on the warpath and try and start a witch hunt about it. "

So I'm not on a witch hunt, then. Good to have clarified that, however unnecessary that clarification actually is. What with me not being on a witch hunt, and not displaying any sign whatsoever that I am on one. But okay, I guess.

Trying to paint me as thought police, nice. What's next, calling me hysteric? A shrew? A nag?
Here's an idea, let the issue drop? Nothing good will come of the argument that is currently the direction of this thread, and will likely only create more conflict and hostile feelings about a subject second hand.

Seconded.

Men can be, and often are, victims of sexism, too. It just takes different forms than it does with women. Sexism hurts everyone.
(operating under the assumption you wrote that because you're male and thus don't believe you can experience sexism, please do correct me if I'm off-base in my interpretation)

Fair enough. An RPG forum isn't the right venue for politics anyway.

You're correct actually in both accounts.
I was talking mostly about the overt oppression that is directed at women. I don't personally have to experience it. However, yes I certainly experience the bull that comes out of a sexist society.
I've been threatened in high school for being gay, and the funny thing is this shows how bigotry combines to be a nasty glop of hate. They said this because i had a lot of women friends and didn't try to **** them all and wasn't a jock. Cause a "real" man would.
I've found looking for women to date to be a rather troubling experience as i don't want someone who defaults to me, is insecure about her body or is preoccupied with vanity. I like women who can help me roof a house, back country camp and debate politics.
I also see the insecurity and unhappiness of women who end up in roles that are deeply unsatisfying and its not really great to see that as a friend.
I have to worry about friends getting raped when the bike through the wrong area (happened to 2 women not far from where i live).
However to me my suffering because of sexism pales in comparison to the women dealing with it. Which is why i said it the way i did.
Why do men lust after women caricatures, only to find them deeply disappointing when it comes to forming an intellectual and emotional bond? Its a social form of insanity taught to us...

exluded imperial politics of course. stupid rebels...
That's why i think the eu got the Imperials right.
Essentially they are evil and bigoted in a very human way.
It allowed some very interesting charecters to develop. Female imperial officers would have so much to prove to their male counter parts that they can almost surpass them in evil. Anything you can do i can do better sort of thing.

It certainly SEEMS more subtle when it's aimed at men. Not sure whether it is, or if that's just my perspective.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your experiences.
By the way, re-reading my earlier post, it might come off as talking down to you. That was certainly not my intention.

Stupid rebels? STUPID REBELS!? Last I checked, the Rebrls weren't the ones employing garbage heavy walkers that couldn't turn and face a flanking threat to literally save their lives, not just one but two galaxy-bankrupting planet killers while already having the ability to wipe an entire biosphere out from orbit, and using expensive and unreliable slave labor in the age of cheap, loyal, automated droid labor!

That's one way to describe virus-bombing Coruscant with an alien-targeting torture disease.

You totally miss the point of all these.
AT-ATs exist so that we can literally crush Rebels under our heels. The future of warfare is a giant robot foot stomping on the face of Rebellion, forever.
If everyone else is bankrupt, it just makes me feel even more rich than I already am.
There is no such thing as overkill. In fact, there is never even enough kill.
Droids don't feel pain and degradation the way slaves do. That makes them inferior to slaves.
See? It all makes perfect sense.

Oh my gosh, did that happen in an EU story? That's really horrible!

Ysanne Isard, head of Imperial Intelligence. Or something, I haven't read that book in close to a decade. During Coruscant's fall to the New Republic, she decided to reinvent the rage quit.

Being laughably evil is all well and good, up until you strangle your own government which came with 1000+ years of pre-assembled infrastructure in the span of 22 years. Competence > war machines tripping over some rope the rebels happened to have in their backpack.
Edited by Degenerate MindIt is easy to mock someone elses superweapon when you don't try to build your own.
And I will NEVER forgett how those "so fair and good rebels" took me prisoner after they shut me down in TIE FIGHTER, brought me to this stupid jungle planet and executed me!! At least in the empire you got your own show-process before they did that!

Hey, at least you got a trial. Rebels don't have the luxury of due process.

Typical Rebel hypocrisy. You want to bring down the system, and then you complain when the system doesn't coddle you.

Do it, or don't. There is no try.
