FF SW Group on FB Admin is a sexist

I'm SO glad to hear that the "real" community here and on G+ is firmly rooted in 2017. :-) And I feel you on G+ vs Twitter vs FB. They're all rotten.

Any one willing to make a competing FB group? I'm already a mod for a large FB group and can't handle two, but I'm more than willing to help out. I mean, ideally, the best way to deal with it is to do them one better. Or better, FF makes one officially.

p

I'm not really that Facebook active but i'd join if someone made it.

I commented about the problems with it regardless of his intentions in the most non-confrontational manner and it ended up with someone saying it crossed the boundaries of the group by mentioning politics. A bit absurd. So yeah screw that group.

I must say, I'm really happy that the experiences on these forums have been positive and female gamers more numerous then i normally see!

There's this one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/278733192265422/ It's pretty small and quiet but I've never seen anything inappropriate.

Now I have caught up.

Hi all, sorry to see this is what has brought some of us here this morning. I was also in that group (and in the SWRPG GM one, leaving that now I am reminded who admins it).

I wasn't banned from the Facebook Group as I made my final comment about not wanting to be apart of this group and departed on my own terms. If they are banning people, then that is just atrocious now.

My wife and I have run groups before and her comment to me made the most perfect sense to share: When you run a community, whether on Facebook, in a video game, or so on your ultimate goal is to annoy/offend the least amount of people possible.

The admin's wife came into that conversation on Facebook (she is an admin too) and said it was his style of humour. Humour or not, in a group that is dedicated to Star Wars RPG FFG, you leave that style of posting to your own wall and not a community built around a product where we all want to get along and request assistance/tips/etc.

I will try and be more active on Google Plus if there is an active group there and normally I was active on forums like here but with work commitments and life, I've been absent and tend to deal with other mediums.

If anyone wants to add me on Facebook feel free (Jason Pounsett) here as I've already had a few since the 'situation' come my way. Glad to have more likeminded people around!

*gets off his soapbox*

P.S. I saw the tweet from Paige concerning would FFG create their own official group but they cannot as they are designed to be business free.

Hey now, what did neanderthals ever do to you? Don't go grouping them in with these sacks of excrement! ;)

We were once more active than we are now, seems like things heat up around the time new books come out. Many esteemed forum regulars visit these groups. We're not as big as /r/swrpg but hey, it's a good crowd! We definitely welcome newcomers

I just logged into my G+ after a long absence and realised I am a member of that 4000+ strong group as well as a GM one for SWRPG FFG :P

Okay, I keep seeing your posts and thinking, "When did I post in this? This doesn't sound like me at...oh!"

This must be what Desslok and Vondy feel...woah...

I'm so sleepy that I actually read all the way down to "My wife and I" before I realized it wasn't you.

What? I coulda got married! You don't know :P !

...yeah, no. #Foreveralone, or whatever it is you tech-savvy people say these days :( .

Sorry, Jayven, didn't mean to dilute the poignancy of your posts, it's just weird when the avatars of well-known* forumites are adopted by others. Imagine the utter confusion if someone else were to use the same avatar as Marcy  !

* Am I allowed to call myself "well-known," or is that too hubristic?

Yeah, the amount of dewshbaggery on this forum is significantly lower than on most others in the nerd/gamer circles I've browsed. And yes I know that's not how you spell that, but I have to get around the profanity filter somehow. (seriously that thing is so weird. The words it does censor, versus the ones it doesn't is just so laughable)

I know you could have and I believe you will, it was more like "Whoa! When did this happen!?"

Does it still ban "saltwater"?

Edit: Ooops, I guess that was another site.

On actual topic, I also took it as a swipe at Kylo; but you'd have to be a bigger jerk than Kylo not to realize how offensive that is regardless.

No offense taken! I get lazy at times when I see certain avatars as well :D

You asked for it with that #Foreveralone bit :P

* Sigh * Okay. Maaaybe.

So that's why there were so few of their posts showing up in my feed!

I got the boot. Not sure what I said exactly but I guess no dissent is allowed in that group.

Dude literally labels himself "Conservative Christian" so I am pretty much sticking to my initial idea that this was completely intended as sexist.

Also , quite weird to see them complain about "PC" and then instabanning everyone that opposed them. Probably wanted their group to be a safespace.

Yeah i saw a flag draped something or other... Seems the ones that advertise the most are the least what they advertise.

ok sorry guys one question: is it the (boring) joke or the reaction of the complaints that pisses u off so much?

I'm 33 and I'm upset by the lack of men my age that can cook. I personally love cooking, baking and drink mixing.

The kitchen is a workshop: it has tools; requires skill and training; can cause serious injury or make lots of money.

There are tons of guys that can cook. Odds are you'll find them in the kitchens of various restaurants. :)

For example, here's the list of Top Chef contestants and their ages when they competed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Top_Chef_contestants

Personally I despise cooking as it is just a huge waste of time and equipment for just 1 person. Cooking for 3 or 4 doesn't increase the mess much over cooking for 1, so makes it more worthwhile. Also, there's tons of places within a 1.5km of where I live that I can easily just walk to. More variety of food and less prep time for me. So, I pay more for food, but don't have the pain of the cleanup or planning.
