I think if they were going to bring back directly inspired versions of old cards, I would love to see Focus redone for the new game.

That card is an icon of the old game.

Also Sneak Attack :P

If they bring back sneak attack, they had better not spoil it before hand.

I would like to see a return for Make a Wish, though.

How about

Focus

After the dials are revealed during a duel, discard up to three cards. Increase or decrease your bid by the number of cards you discarded. (min 0)

What about Spearhead?

Marries A Barbarian - Insta-win in these rules

Stand Against the Waves - would be a great anti-Lion Card "something having to do with having attachments on characters vs. numbers (maybe a dragon version) or phoenix version, Shugenja vs. numbers, or crab version with sacrifice multiple characters for forced sacrifice of equal number of attackers (my personal favorite)"

Wedge - a version in Lion or Unicorn

I'm sort of surprised we haven't seen Sneak Attack yet. It is easily within the design space and doesn't seem that broken as a neutral conflict card

Reaction : After the Defender Declares participating characters - Attacker has the first opportunity to take an action in this conflict.

I think you limit it to military conflicts, slap 0 cost on it and it is ready to go!

I liked Sneak Attack, Deadly Ground, Crushing Attack, Night Battle, etc. but I don't think they have a place in the new game. Similar to anything like Breach of Etiquette and the event that let you win if you had all 12 Black Scrolls in play, those were things that made Classic L5R kind of janky. They're all too gimmicky and not interactive.

Boastful Proclamation

Unique

Cost:0

Attachment

Action: Attach to target province. Give the province +3 strength while Boastful Proclamation is attached and its controller gains 3 Honor. After this province is destroyed by conflict resolution, give each Personality in the attacking army a +1F token and the Attacker may draw a card.

Retribution

Play after one of your province is broken. You may declare an additional military conflict this turn (max 1 per turn)
