[ruling wanted] captive audience

By SavageTofu, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Captive audience says:

action: during a political conflict, lose 1 honor-change the conflict to military.

I assume this resets the political conflict so you still can make another one? Kinda of like If your sent home your character doesn’t bow...

Border Rider says:

action: ready this character.

So you can’t use this action while bowed correct?

If you declare a political conflict and it switches to military you've still used up your political declaration for the turn.

All actions can be used while bowed unless they have bowing as part of the cost.

in the learn to play guide page 10; Phase 3; Type; "Each player is allowed to declare one conflict of each type during the conflict phase." This would imply to me that if you declared a Military conflict and it was changed to political, then you had still declared a Military conflict. You would then have a political avail to declare.

I would assume this works against your opponent then? Since it takes place “during” a political conflict. Meaning they choose a political conflict, you switch it. Then, how does that work? Does that mean you’ve used up your opponents military attack or your own?

so border rider is super good.

Neither. They declared a political conflict, so assuming that was the first conflict of the round they have a military left and you have both a military and political left to declare later.

Doesn't affect anything other your current conflict. Switching doesn't change what conflicts you have declared.

In this case you actually would HAVE to use it while bowed. Since it readies itself, it would have to be bowed in order to ready. It can't ready if its already ready, since the action must change the board state.

But yes, you can use any action while bowed, unless the cost requires bowing.

Captive Audience could be used during either opponents declared conflict. So you could actually use it after you have declared a political conflict and the as one of your actions switch it to a military.

Which would be the point of that ability if your question had an affirmative answer? #L5RTrollDevs?:P

Pretty good, imo. The ability is great, but the stats are on the low side for a 2 cost character. Then again, this is Unicorn, so it's probably one of their best characters.

Border Rider is very good and imho worth putting a fate on dare opponent to assassinate
