4 clawdite figures but 3 cards?

Sounds kinda like they're not totally sure what they're talking about...

Below is the response I received from Asmodee customer support when I queried the box content, pointing out that there were not enough deployment cards for the figures and it was unusable.

Note: Thank you for reaching out! An extra Clawdite is included in your box. You have all of the correct pieces. Enjoy!”

Asmodee aren't involved in designing the game, and the random person in charge of answering component questions won't know what went on in the design decisions, so their answers will be generic.

And since it won't really be right to bother the rules query channel (which does go to the designers) on component questions... Maybe this should rather be brought up as a ha ha question the next time one of the designers are interviewed?

Sounds like the correct answer regardless.

Maybe they plan to release a 2-pack of clawdites in a villain pack with new shapes and this way you'll get the 6 for skirmish having to only buy 1 pack and FF is just being nice for a change. LOL, yeah couldn't stop myself laughing.

blah blah blah! (covering ears) :D

A play tester let it slip ...

@NeverBetTheFett , could you put that information in spoiler tags, please?

Yep. Use

:D

LOL on the 'play tester slip'.

Sorry. Even though I own it, I hadn't even looked to verify this. Now we'll all have to find out if it's true :D

So... Try this theory on and see how it fits:

The original photo is an accurate representation of what was originally intended to be in the box. Even into production, the plan was six Riot Troopers and two Clawdites. They got to a certain point in production (somewhere between making the pieces and putting them in the boxes) and a decision was made that the box needed more Clawdites and fewer Troopers.

Due to the arrangements of figures on molds/sprues, it was easy to order a new production run using a subset of the existing molds and make the numbers add-up to very little waste. If we add TWO Clawdites to each box instead of one. Then all we have to do is remove two troopers from each kit we've already assembled, then use them to fill the new kits from our second production run. OR we plan a Riot Trooper villain pack for the near future and put those two troopers in it.

We've already printed the cards (or have already sent the layout off to the printer) and there will be three Clawdite cards and six Riot Trooper cards (three campaign and three skirmish) in each box. Printing one more card for each box would mean a new print layout for full sheets of Clawdite cards or printing a full sheet per box for just one card.

In addition, it probably makes mistakes less likely if someone has to drop a full set of Figure C into each existing kit and remove the same number of Figure F. Though it would DEFINITELY be simpler to follow the instruction "add one Figure C to each box."

Long story short: production conveniences made it easier to include an "extra" Clawdite than to modify the production run to make everything match.

But my money is actually on an admin transposing a 3 into a 4, then sending the order to China before anyone on the design team saw the final order. That doesn't explain the mismatch between Riot Trooper figures and Riot Trooper cards.

Man. I'm sure it's either a REALLY interesting story or just an utterly boring one.

It took you 9 months to come up with that one? ?

No; it took me 9 months to buy the expansion and wonder about the mismatch, then stumble upon this thread.
