Six in Six and the PAX Grand Kotei

By Thundering, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I registered yesterday for the Grand Kotei at PAX Unplugged. Today I find out that six sets are getting released through the weeks of November and December. Do we know what day they release in their respective week, and what sets will be legal for the Grand Kotei at PAX Unplugged?

If sets are released Thursday/Friday and the Grand Kotei is on Saturday, will there be spoilers in advance to allow for proper deck testing? It seems very difficult to plan accordingly for a competitive play environment.

Typical FFG policy is that cards are tourney legal 11 days after the street date.

"After Worlds" implies Nov 10, (They typically do releases on a Thursday). That gives legality on the 21st, which is after PAX.

This is all "Typical" policy from previous games. It has not been announced for this game yet, and they are clearly doing something different.

I believe I saw Tears of Amertsu is being released the 16th. So it won't be legal for PAX.

Given that a lot of online sites post dates pulled from a hat for pre-orders, I'm not sure I trust anything that isn't off FFG's website itself. I don't have an account for their store though. But the 9th or 16th are both reasonable guesses.

The 10th is unlikely, I just can't read a calendar, but my point still stands.

While the above posts suggest the packs won't be legal for PAX, the original announcement does state there's going to be spoilers for more packs coming up. Probably not the full packs though, as I'm pretty sure we've already had the only Tears of Amaterasu spoiler we're going to get at this point, and that only includes a handful of the new cards.

Well, doubt PAX will see any legal cards, but the Kotei in Madrid will. Which is going to be interesting.

I'm looking at attending this event as well, but am having some trouble finding information. What day of PAX Unplugged is this tournament running? How do we register / get in to the Kotei, as opposed to the convention? Thanks for any help or pointers to the information.

Check the "Cascade Games" link. It is on Saturday for the swiss and cut on Sunday. There is a "Proving Grounds" both Friday and Sunday as well. Requires a badge to play.

Thanks a lot. I had not seen that last link. Appreciate the hand.

It could have been more obvious in the article.
