Accuracy Corrector and AutoBlaster (Turret or Canon)

By Stoneface, in X-Wing Rules Questions

A question has come up concerning the interaction of AC and the Autoblaster. Example, if an attack by the ABT returns blanks and I use AC to cancel those blanks and give me two hits, are these considered "uncancellable" also?

There's precedence to say they are not. HLC dice that are rerolled do not change crust to hits.

Comments please.

I was of the understanding that you can indeed use Accuracy Corrector to give you two uncancellable hits.

That was my impression also.

Could you check the previous faq' s to see when the note for the HLC was posted?

Additional information

“Your (hit) results cannot be cancelled by defense dice.”

Accuracy Corrector adds two hit results. Those hit results are dice in the pool.

These particular cards are clearly written, as are the rules for modifying dice and comparing results. I don’t see any possible rules interpretation in which the Accuracy Corrector results could be cancelled by evade results on green dice.

Agreed. This is one combo that gives two hits as a dead certainty.

Now, if ABT said something along the lines of "your rolled hit results cannot be canceled by defense dice" then that would be a case where ABT and AC wouldn't work together. However, the wording for ABT specifies 'hit results'. It in no way refers to specific dice that were rolled/rerolled/added at any time, merely the number of hit results showing after all modification is said & done.

In the case of HLC, its wording specifies 'after rolling your attack dice' which occurs in Step 2 (Roll Attack Dice) of the FAQ timing chart. That is the only timing window in which that line of text applies. After that you've moved into Step 3 (Modify Attack Dice) which includes 'rerolling dice results'.

Ok, then what happens to Backdraft with AC when he attacks out of his rear arc? Does he lose the crit if he uses AC?

Accuracy Corrector says you can't modify your dice again during the attack, so logically it would be done last and would indeed cancel Backdraft's crit result along with anything else, before adding the two hits.

There are 2 options, both with the same end-result.

1. Backdraft attacks a target in his auxiliary arc, eventually reaching his step to modify his dice. He chooses to add his crit first, then uses AC, cancelling the crit and any other results and then adds 2 hit results.

2. Backdraft attacks a target in his auxiliary arc, eventually reaching his step to modify his dice. He chooses to use AC, cancelling any rolled results and instead adding 2 hits. He is then prevented from adding his crit. This is due to his ability adding a result, a form of dice modification, with AC preventing further modification of your dice.
