What Ships "Need" Fixes?

Wow, that's seedier than I thought it was. It really is a shame then that they didn't put more effort into designing a system that can be expanded on easily.

There was post on boardgamegeek from the Wings of War creators about it, and their attitude was kind of 'eh, what can we do?'.

Having played Wings of War I can tell you that FFG significantly streamlined it and X-Wing is definitely a 'better' and more accessible game. That's the pros and cons of FFG games though, they make them very mass-market accessible, but then if the game really takes off they will often struggle to expand it precisely because of how much they simplified it originally.

I'm in with @thespaceinvader and @FTS Gecko, let's go ahead and drop some hammer on the OP stuff, akin to the X7 (Palp was fine), and see what happens. So: Jumps, Biggs, TLT, Nym/Sabine bomb abilities some how and let it shake out.

After we get the Scum Aces pack, really, the only ships left un-buffed in the game history that have needed one since its stillborn release, is the Punisher....the complete irony in that name is simply flabbergasting.

And the Firespray, particularly the Imperial one.

Well, they didn't 'blunder onto a good system', they stole a good system. They were in talks with the designers of Wings of War to license it for a Star Wars miniatures game then suddenly pulled out and announced X-Wing, a Star Wars miniatures game that was mechanically very similar to Wings of War but just about distinct enough to avoid legal issues.

Yes, I heard that from the Wings of War designers :(

"Need" depends on what level of play we're talking about. If we incorporate Casual, then I'd say Imperials need bombers that can bomb a bit better (and the game needs a slightly less deadly way of bombing) and U-Wings need a niche to fill, as they aren't Lambdas. Everything else might not be tourney/meta worthy right now, but close enough that it becomes a very delicate thing to tamper with.

‘Fixes’ that have already been released:

X-wing with Rebel Transport, IA, etc.

Y-wing with Most Wanted, TLT, etc.

TIE with Gozanti, crackshot, etc. Rebel TIE added pilots and title but only for Rebs.

Advanced with Raider, AC, etc.

A-wing and B-wing with Rebel Aces, AT, etc.

Interceptors with Imperial Aces, AT, etc.

Falcon with Tantive IV, HotR, etc.

Firespray with Most Wanted, Tailgunner, etc.

Lambda, no Fix. Palpy made it relevant tho

HWK, Most Wanted, TLT, etc.

Bomber with Imp Vets, LWF, EM, Chimps, LRS, Unguided Rockets, etc.

Defender with Imp Vets

Phantom...got nerfed.

Z-95, added Pilots in Most Wanted but that was only for Scum.

E-wing. Still waiting.

Outrider, got a boost with Kanan, HotR

Decimator, palpmobile #2

6th Wave Scum had Starviper getting Fix with G4H, with Scyk getting C-ROC. IG2000 still waits.

Punisher got Unguided Rockets, Minefield, LWF

K-wing...yeah...

YV-666, like the lambda gets better with Good Crew.

Kyhraxz is getting Guns. About time too.

from here I think that’s it for intended fixes or obvious boosts. Nerfs seem to be the order of the day.

I would say the firespray really hasn't gotten any fixes.

Most Wanted gave new pilots, but for a different faction. Also gave a new title, but both titles aren't the greatest. Both requiring spending a lot of points on upgrades to make use of them, and that just isn't good when the ship is overpriced already and can be focus fired and/or outmaneuvered quite easily some games.

Tail Gunner is nice, but when you have so many crew competing for one crew slot, it often isn't the best choice. If firesprays had a 2nd crew slot, especially if it let you have a 2 point crew or less for free, I'd totally take tail gunner then.

On the note of B wings, I feel an upgrade that gave them bullseye arcs would be fitting based on its funky rebels death star combo laser thing that creates a single big beam by having them meet at the center.

What is a bullseye arc

Look at the wave 12 article's kimogala fighter. The bullseye arc is a straight facing arc that negates defensive use of focus or evade. It has a much smaller range than the standard arc and is a line of a set thickness forward rather than a true arc. Basically rewarding precise predictions of enemy placement.
