This is my first foray into the LCG world but I think this is a good way to get more cards into the game and capitalize on the popularity the game has at the moment. There are clearly a lot of people that want to play so putting out more cards right away is good. It'll be really good if these packs offer up a few different ways to approach each clan to keeps things fresh. Just my feeling and only time will tell if this was a good move on FFG's part or not.

It is clear for me....
Aaaaaand... people began to sell their cores. If they wanted to scare newcomers this is a complete success.

More time to save money would have been nice, FFG. I'm not made of gold.

Rokugan is no place for the timid.
This is stupid. My budget can't handle it. It's no fun when they release them this quickly. I'm glad I only bought two core sets so far. If they dont back track, I'm going to sell and get out.
Everyone's talking $90 like we have to drop that at once. It'll be $15 a week. That's not pocket change, but it's not unmanageable either.
I think it's a great idea. I'm more of a causal player than competitive (though, I have been thinking about trying out tournaments) and every LCG is really stagnant for a long time until the card pool grows enough to have diversity.
As others have mentioned, I'm sure every pack will not have cards you need for your deck, so you can wait and see if you want what's in the pack before purchasing. And if we really are only getting 2 cards per clan, you really aren't missing out on much.
My wallet might complain a bit, but having a healthier card pool sooner is much needed in the LCG format.

I understand why people don't like this model.
Personally, I do though. The game is taking off in a huge way in our area, and everyone's excited to get more cards.

They are not backtracking.
So why did FFG wait until AFTER the release to let folks know?
Maybe because it might affect the Core sales?
The worst aspects of the old FFG marketing, shorting dice in games, and then doing this and holding back the info until after release.

And they have to sell those cores to people who are buying in... So that is a complete wash.

After officially announcing like that and with a few weeks to it, 0 chances they're backtracking it. Logistically, it would be a nightmare.

It's an extra $45 a month for two months that was not there before. My excel for luxury expenses accounted for one each month. Now I must juggle stuff around. Delaying to buy Arkham Horror LCG stuff would help but I don't wanna.
At least it's a "one time" thing. Or I could just buy them slower while the other players around me get them. I still lack two cores, anyway.
Personally I am OK with it for the first cycle. It gives players more deckbuilding options during the initial phase of the new game. It can prevent all clan-decks from being more or less the same.
But my wallet likes to add that it does hope that from the second cycle on, they turn back to one pack a month.

Not that it would change much to your opinion I guess, but it's an extra $30 per month, except if you thought there wouldn't be any pack during those months.

Yes but you're Rich on a Daily basis............I only get paid every other week.
You don't need to buy all the packs as they come out do you? Get them as you can get them.
I was originally against this idea, but it is starting to grow on me.

Try to sell that to those who want to play competitive.

How often will competitive events be held? I understand the desire to get it all to be competitive but will there be events that will make buying these right away important? Time will tell.

Pretty sure those are the people that are least likely to walk away.
I am liking this quick release of new content to get the environment in a better place. I've seen other LCGs, like GOT, struggling with being stuck in the beginning phase too long when it comes to deckbuilding, making all decks look the same.
I will certainly look at the content of each pack to see if it's worth buying for my deck, and buy as needed, or split the cost with other players.

Then they have a choice.
However, if coming up with $90 across a month and a half is bank breaking, people should reconsider being "Competitive" in an active card game. Especially one that wants competitive players to attend multiple out of state events a year.
