Six Packs In Six Weeks

On the plus side, Unicorn might get their theme in working order pretty quickly.

Do these packs come with three of each card? Im suddenly anxious abour ordering two more core sets. If i cant afford to play the game then id really not be happy about going all out on cores...

Yes, they come with three each, so you only have to buy one. If you are tight on money, you could buy just one second core and cherry-pick the packs depending on contents. That would give you the most deckbuilding choices for the least amount of money. Of course, you eventually will want all of them, but you don't absolutely need them right away.

Quickly skimming the "Upcoming" pages, the second card pack is already listed as "On the Boat". Looks like this is happening.

Whew ok thanks everyone, i feel much better haha

My take is this is a bold but risky move. On one hand you have the after-core lull that has affected other games, and people demanding more; on the other, you have the reasoning behind the LCG model (an affordable but constant roll of releases). Can you stretch the mold without breaking it? We will see, I guess.

Personally, I'm happy with the news. It's christmas one month early. I can see the downside, however.

I don't like this decision ... like everyone else said, waaaaaay steeper cost of entry. I hope they cancel it. If they don't, I won't have the packs until January at earliest ... :(

Couldn't they have released a box instead ? I get that they want to accelerate the meta but to me it seems counter-intuitive of the LCG model itself.

Assuming your definition of 'entry' is the same as my definition for 'highest level tournament play in the world' then yes, it's a barrier for entry.

But these packs are not an 'entry' into this game. Split them with a friend if it's that big a deal. 7 dollars every two weeks. Done. People are losing their minds here.

Bien.

And if we are getting

I wouldn't agree with that Daigotsu Steve. The public perception is always that they need to own everything to be current with these LCGs. I've tried to talk people out of that by just picking and choosing the packs they buy based on the decks they want or to split the cost of the card pool with a friend. That doesn't change that the commonly held opinion from the outside looking n will be I have to spend like 240 buck USD to play this game at launch. That's gonna turn a lot of people off and it's gonna take a lot of effort to talk people down off that ledge.

Not losing my mind, just disappointed. I like being able to keep up with my meta rather than being stomped by cards I don't/can't own (which quite often happens as I'm 16 and only have a job tutoring).

OMG, I can't get rid of the picture. Sorry.

In any case. If we are getting 6 packs in 6 weeks....when does this start and where are my previews? :D

They don't always preview every card before releasing a pack. I remember a few netrunner packs like that where we had 2/3 of the cards?

I dont like this.

We are still receiving the core boxes and starting to make our firsts decks, no need to hurry.

Also, such a flood of packs is kind the opposite of what LCG model is all about. Not counting the paywall it imposes to new players.

As a one time measure to increase the card pool i see it as a bad idea. If this is gonna be the rule from now on... guess i'll be saying goodbye to the game. I was not in the LCG model for this >.<

If they don't want to give us a......tactical briefing....of the cards, at least give me 2/3 of the cards in all 6 packs. They have a lot of articles to write up!

yep full playset of every card!

yes all current LCG packs come with 3x of each card. If these packs didn't follow that model their would be riots within the community I think :)

Yes, Dynasty Packs and Deluxe boxes come with a full playset of their cards. No need to buy multiples.

So, can I assume from this that a single pack contains 3x of everything?

Yes.

The Phoenix's nuke.... I was pissy until I saw it's cost. These cards will be interesting and I can start to see why they want 6 packs right away. Power creep? Nah, the core and the imperial cycle go hand-in-hand. This is all one.

Looks a lot like a hoax. I could not find anything about this on the FFG or Asmodee sites. The domain isn't associated to either entity either unless they are being sneaky and hiding it... But why would legit marketing do that?

The only reasonable explanation I could see for such a schedule would be to have a more rounded pool of cards for something major like the Winter Court. This (according to the 'marketing announcement') would be after Winter Court. This lacks so much logic I will say hoax until I see them in stores.

Shu2jack,

Thanks for sharing that! Looks like we have thrown logic out the window...

Should be interesting at least, there's a proverb about that. 'May you live in interesting times.' or something close to that.

There is no hurry. It's still about a month away before the first pack hits.

the other advantage of the normal LCG model is relatively smooth and consistent rulings. The rules forum is going to be a hot mess by the end of the six weeks.

So if I remember right. When they first announced information about this game at the beginning of the year they stated they had an ambitious release for the first cycle. So I am not surprised.
