Rebel Ordnance List - Advice Needed

By Rettere, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all, new player here trying out different things. I threw together this casual ordnance list and looking for advice. Basic idea is to chain Airen + Dutch to get a bunch of target locks in the start of combat phase even though I have relatively low PS. Ion missile could get me two rounds of torpedos on the primary target. U-wing is just there to block people from zooming into Range 1 before I get the alpha off. Tried to fit a couple TLT's in on the Y-wings for after the alpha strike or while turning around, but couldn't make it work. What do you think? (Yes I know ordnance is supposed to be crap but there are just SO MANY low agility ships flying around the Houston meta right now...)

[ REBEL SQUADRON (100 points)
1 • Airen Cracken - Z-95 Headhunter - Crack Shot - Ion Pulse Missiles - Guidance Chips (23)
2 • "Dutch" Vander - Y-wing - Plasma Torpedoes - Extra Munitions - Guidance Chips (28)
3 • Gold Squadron Pilot - Y-wing - Proton Torpedoes - Extra Munitions - Guidance Chips (24)
4 • Bodhi Rook - U-wing - Pivot Wing (25)

Oh no, ordnance isn't crap at all. Alpha strikes are a massive force in the game right now, so trying to make it work is wise. However, I'm not sure if this is the way to do it. Like you say, low PS is an issue, however, its unlikely you'll lose any of your ships in the first round unless the opponent is also Alpha Striking. With the excellent Airen-Dutch-GSP target lock synergy, you should be able to shoot. However, especially because after the initial salvo you really have nothing to offer, I'd suggest the following edits: give Airen a damaging missile - you want to try kill things fast. Drop Bodhi to fit turrets on the Ys.

Possible versions of this theme:

Airen or Blount with thread tracers, 2 Gold Y-Wings with TLT, extra munitions and proton torps and targeting astromechs to get the 2nd trips off after k-turning. There can be enough points for a bandit too.

Dutch with the EPT droid to get him to PS8, along with Wedge and Airen. (Or Porkins and Hobbie)

Wedge, Airen Cracken and either Horton Salm or Nym gets you 3 ships at PS10. This can be very nasty.

I just made something like this last week. Just wanted to see how far I could go with torpedoes Y-wings.

Here's my version :

Cracken - Swarm tactics
Dutch - Targeting Astro, Proton, EM, GC
GSP - Proton, EM, GC X2

I like swarm tactics on Cracken as it allows for one of the Goldies to be a high PS threat.

Basically, you have two choices when jousting the enemy :
- if not out-PS-ed, use Dutch's ability to give one Goldie a PS6 TL. Then the second one gets a late TL from Cracken.
- if high PS enemies inbound, use Cracken's ability on Dutch, then Dutch's on one Goldie. That makes for two late TLs (but obvioulsy one of the goldies won't fire torpedoes that round).

I think the Targeting astro is mandatory for Dutch, giving a dual torpedoe strike possibility on the K-turn following initial joust (the other Goldie may then follow Cracken for a redirection on an other target, if able).

What does EM stand for here?

oh, never mind. I thought GSP was Green Squadron A-Wing with Prockets. You meant Gold Squadron with protons and extra munitions.

That one is tricky indeed :P

It’s what I get for checking the forum before my coffee. I was like, if you can put EM on an A-Wing, I’m shooting Prockets for days.
