32 point ships

By PlaceboSA, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey there guys,

Local for fun tournament happening soon. You have 32 points to build one ship. So its short games and what not. What would you take and why?
I'm looking at a 32 point Fearlessness Fenn, just because it will hit hard.

Feel free to leave your opinion on ships, i'd love to see what people would choose and why (it is a for fun tournament from my understanding, so doesn't have to be competitive)

I’d run an A-Wing at PS9. I flew this last night (in a 100 point game) and the A-Wing was able to arc dodge all night. Was never fired upon. Although now I’m realizing a turret will destroy this.

Jake all day.

Omega Leader, Juke, Shield Upgrade, Comm Relay @ 30

OL is always a beast in most 1 v 1 matchups. The extra points just makes her a bit beefier with the extra shield.

Lieutenant Kestal, VI, Unguided Rockets, Ion Cannon Turret, LWF @ 32

Kestal is one of the few people that can hit AT Aces with an ICT out of arc reliably. Once you have them controlled, you just take them for a walk or finish them off with rockets/lasers. If they try to keep at range 3, the rockets give you a bit more punch.

I'd go for one of these:

•Ezra Bridger (31) - Attack Shuttle
Push The Limit (3), Twin Laser Turret (6), Tactician (2)

Zeta Specialist (32) - TIE/SF Fighter
Fire Control System (2), Cruise Missiles (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Special Ops Training (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

•The Inquisitor (31) - TIE Adv. Prototype
Push The Limit (3), TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

Kashyyyk Defender (31) - Auzituck Gunship
Tactician (2), Gunner (5)

....or perhaps something with ion weapons.

Nien Nunb (29)

Rage (1)

R3-A2 (2)

Integrated Astromech (0)

I'll second Omega Leader as the best choice, but also the most tedious (especially if you get into an Omega V Omega matchup).

But if you want to have fun (and a good chance at winning) you could do worse than:

Talonbane Cobra (32)
Kihraxz Fighter (28), Vaksai (0), Lone Wolf (2), Cruise Missiles (3), Cloaking Device (2), Guidance Chips (0), Munitions Failsafe (1)

You get a lot of oomph for 32 points, and PS 9 with the option to cloak is always nice. Cruise missiles help you with those pesky token stackers.

The Dark Lord, of course, because he's the best pilot in the galaxy!

  • Darth Vader (29) [32]
    • x1 (0)
    • Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
    • Juke (2)

Juke Vader is cheap and dangerous. Asteroids Repositioning does not concern me, I just double token up and light people up. Juke and ATC are really nice together, this combo really helps let the crits through. If you really need to, Barrel Roll and Evade instead of Focus to keep up a solid defense. I've flown this in the face of a Range 1 Kanan and come out unscathed. The Advanced dial is also awesome for dogfighting, IMO.

And another recommendation for the TIE Advanced, especially 1 v 1:

  • Juno Eclipse (28)
    • x1 (0)
    • ATC (1)
    • Adaptability (0)
    • Guidance Chips (0)
    • Whatever 3 pt missile you want (Cruise, Adv Homing, Ion Pulse, take your pick)

Juno is often overlooked pilot, but she's terrifying. She's too flexible for people to really nail her down or shake her off. Just get behind and stay there. I've tailed Fenn Rau for a whole game, he couldn't shake me at all. She's a beast. You can also give her VI instead, drop the missile, and take TIE mk. II for a slightly better dial or keep Adaptability and bring a Stealth Device or a Hull Upgrade.

Inquisitor, ptl, title and either prockets or cruise missiles.

One of meanest, independent and nibble aces out there. With consistent damage output, good defence and a massive sting in the tail with the ordinance

The Inquisitor - Tie Adv. Prototype

Tie/v1, Push the Limit, Proton Rockets, and Guidance Chips.

32 points.

Nice to see the Prototype getting some love. It has to be about my favorite little ship. I just love the dial.
