***EDIT***
Okay, now that I've read the article - the Clone archetype is kind of cool, but the only problem with going with that class? Is there a Sig Ability also in the book? Several campaigns ago, back in the old D6 days, I played a Clone Stormtrooper that went wrong somehow. If I were to build him in today's engine, he'd totally be a Heavy and while he did run around with a Vulcan Machine Cannon occasionally, he also did chop TIE fighters in half with his mighty broadsword, so the Soldier Sig Abilities are spot on for him. I'd hate to lose that if I went with the Clone archetype.
. . . . well, if I were still playing him, that is.
A mistake I only realized after I went away from my computer for a while. I am deeply ashamed.
"Nowineed everyone to look under their seats..."
*wild screaming
"Specialisations! Specialisations for everyone! You get a Specialisation, you get a Specialisation, you all get a Specialisation!!!"
*more wild screaming, confetti cannons go off. Now roll credits.
But seriously they have probably gotten clear evidence by now that books with Specialisations in them sell to everyone. Books without specs only sell to GM's
I have a personal copy of the species data on my computer, split by game line. Where do I put these new ones?

In the fourth file.

If you're not using a multi-tagging strategy here, you're gonna have a bad time.
Or just throw them all together with a book/page number column since it's all the same system.
Pardon my benightedness, but as a new player, I don't quite get universal trees. They seem handy, but not much more than that. Or is the general applicability the point?
What does everyone think about the Gigoran??
They could be very well rounded or specialized depending on their role in a party given their stats. They start with at 15+ wounds and 12+ strain. Even with low intelligence and the penalty dealing with technology, they are one of the most appealing species in my opinion. I have one member in my party that would pick this species instantly.
Before this preview, I thought this would be a book to skip but not anymore!!!

It's that they have a 10xp reduced cost compared to other out of career specs, ie. they cost the same as an in career spec.
In the case of Recruit it offers combat capabilities to a non combat character, the same could be said for Retired Clone. But 5 more? I can't even begin to think where they are going to take these.
Primarily, the three universal specs we have are bridges. Force-sensitive Exile, and later Emergent, were the only two ways to get access to the Force prior to the release of Force and Destiny. Recruit is a means to bring Edge of the Empire characters into Age of Rebellion by giving them handful of useful talents and some extra career skills that would fit into a military-style game.
These new universal specializations are something of new ground for the game, because they aren't exactly like the others. It allows them to add something that perhaps doesn't quite fit into any one career, or allows them to explore some idea after the career books all release.

One of my players literally doesn't like their faces. Too "fluffy puppy" for his tastes and the S&M ballgag/vocoder doesn't help. However, they are mechanically attractive.

I ventured some guesses at the top of the page.

I think we need a picture of what the **** these things look like.
They all speak like Tom Hardy's Bane.
This thread, about Snow Wookiees, has gone 40 posts without misspelling "Wookiee?" Impressive.
Cookiee.
Now ask yourself, did he deliberately mis-spell wookiee in an attempt to jinx the thread or was it just a randomly misspelt cookie.
The wealth of universal specs is quite exciting! I didn't work on that part, but I was on this book, and I did write about Atollon (mentioned in an earlier preview) and the aforementioned "snow wookiees". They were a "must-include" as far as I'm concerned. It's a species that originated entirely in the WEG D6 RPG and made it to the big screen, so paying some homage to that species was fun! Very excited to see what you all think when you get the full book in hand!
