I had the great opportunity to get 3 matches in over the weekend, and by the time I was returning to work this morning, found myself in a state of satisfaction. Having a good game can really clear up what looks to be a dismal day. (I can't be the only one who hates Mondays). Having 3 good games almost puts me in a state of zen. lol
All that said, while playing Armada, I've found there are specific tactics and plays that are profoundly satisfying, I was curious if anyone else shared this experience?
Say you're playing an MC30 fleet, and you've not only managed to dodge all incoming fire from that Imperial class but you've landed safely within it's now bare-of-shields side arc with a perfect close range double arc... and first player... EXTREMELY Satisfying yeah?
Or, for me specifically, executing a well maneuvered pincer with 2 ISDs that has landed two medium size ships within inescapable arcs for a pulsetap.
What are yours? What's the strategy you use that when you get it to work it makes you feel good?
Satisfaction (mostly*) Guaranteed
Had a little tourney this weekend myself and I know what you mean. The mental stresses of Armada really somehow clears the mind. (Weird right?)
Flying a fleet in formation is the best feeling to me. When it all clicks together - Oh, what a feeling.
Edit: Oh and then when you nail a double-arc as you've said, it is all just gravy.

Watching that GR-75 get wrecked time and time again.
Repairing my Vic II every round and seeing it survive to the end of the game.
Running my Vic II up the middle with a Glad on either side and seeing my opponent realize they have no where to run.
Engaging my Ciena with my opponents Ciena, and then my Valen with their Ciena+Valen. Now my opponents Ciena must attack my Ciena and their Valen has to attack my Valen, while my Ciena+Valen can attack their Ciena.
Winning games with my E's and X's Dodonna fleet. Red bomber dice FTW.

Oh yeah, getting that formation is always a great one. I had a dual Mc80 fleet that deployed staggered at an angle and at different speeds that formed a perfect wall by end of round 2 this weekend, had me grinning all night.

These two in particular look like they'd leave someone with a big grin.
Carefully pulling apart a well flown formation fleet.

Of course, it would make sense that countering a satisfying move, is just as if not more satisfying. lol
-Actually Ackbar slashing with an MC80. Even better when last/firsting paired ISDs during said slash.
-Arc dodging with an MC80A/C (or a Pelta).
-Killing Demolisher before it fires
-Killing Yavaris before it double taps
-Also, not a strategy, but a sort of gaming ritual I do in any dice game. I lay out the initial dice to be rolled, put down the additional, remove what must be removed. It clears my head for some reason and it reduces chance of error and needed refills.

Yes, all of those three +
Having that enemy ship land on my B-Wings with a Yavaris+Raymus triple-double tap ready to go and Norra and BCC and Toryn Farr hanging out nearby.
Latest satisfaction moment was with Yavaris. Cracked open the shields on an MC80 Home One, brace gone, no shields to redirect to, MC80 still full health and one squadron from Yavaris left to activate. In flies Keyan Farlander. With a combination of his ability and Bomber Command Center, rolls Hit/Crit on both dice, TWICE. One dead MC80.
At Euros, I managed with MC30 to double broadsides twice, one in the side against Defiance and the other front on against Avenger. Crits given to Avenger were 'Disengage Fire Control' (can't fire at obstructed targets/ I was playing Cracken) and 'Comm Noise' (reduced speed by 1/ it was going at 1), needless to say, it didn't last long.

That's the Holy Grail of crits right there. Even better than opening with a Projector Misaligned APT against a Liberty.
No satisfaction to be had recently. My last few games, when I vcould get them, were tiring and generally frustrating affairs as my skill in maneuver and tactics completely falls apart to dice...
all while running the tournaments at the same time...
... at least if sentry box gets regionals, I won’t be allowed to play.
During the first match of our Corellian Conflict campaign, I used my MC80 Star Cruiser + Sato black dice to lay down a full frontal attack into the face of my opponent's ISD (gave him 6 damage cards w/ a crit), then used my side arc shot to nail his Quasar and take it out (it had taken a beating from my Hammerheads). THEN, I Engine Tech'd for 2 speed-1 maneuvers, which put me Just outside the ISD's front arc. It went down to another full front attack the next round. It was glorious.
Edited by SQUIDwarriorBut In more general terms, my favorite thing is flying a broadside ship (I prefer MC80s or Assault Frigate Mk IIs) right between two star destroyers, blasting the **** out of them with those side arcs, and then making it out alive. It usually fails miserably, but when it works it is so satisfying.
My favorite to date is running a Madine double Liberty list, and coaxing my opponent to come up the middle after the Pelta/Neb B flagship, instead of the Liberties set up on either side. Then you cross the Liberties and watch everything in the middle melt. One turn is all I need, after that there is no time to correct.
One full power blast from Devastator. Ha Ha Ha!
Twooo full power boats from Devadtator! Ha Ha Ha!
THREEEE full power blasts from Devastator! Ha Ha Ha Ha!
6th round having a far-flanking Raider roll in behind my opponent's ISD-II, pop externals, roll the necessary accuracy (it was down to one redirect) and blast the last half of its hull out to the damage point.
Basically any time I can stab something big with the stiletto and have it survive is a great day.
Discovered another last friday.
Dropping a set of ISDs to speed 0 to force 1st engagement at long range on the the opponent, to set up the perfect close range assault the next turn.
I sank a fully geared Motti ISD with ECMs in a single round by doing this.... it was glorious.
I thought this was quite good :-)

I was quite satisfied with it :-)

I would so go to this. "A delightfully luke-warm Taun Taun", I am both Intrigued and afraid at the same time.
Two more to add
-Killing a fresh ISD in one turn. (None of this AvengerBT crap, I’m talking about when you were doing it with double Assault frigates and bombers)
—Sympathetic Motti detonations. Those moments when Motti dies and ships he was saving also die.

Exactly! Who needs it!

This is what I think of when (if) this ever happens
