Its really good when FAQs "leak", so the competetive meta has got to come up with more experimental lists, because the OP netlists might get nerfed.
Proper list building ain't magic. My own stuff usually ends up in the top16 at worlds. So stop teasing me.

Beside, my lists, not myself. I usually end up top16 in my local store championships with the same lists. "Fly Better" is actually magic.

Well we've seen how well it works out when they do them in secret. I don't see how they could do a worse job with public testing.
This is the perfect time to try out something that is just- well, stuff. Throw something together and get better at flying the Chassis, not the combo. Or think around corners and build lists that involve overlooked stuff.

It's all rhetoric, our differences in opinion regarding play testing and "insider" circles.
What's not rhetorical or even remotely amusing is the fact that FFG allows this much time and ambiguity with existing, not broken, ships that they didn't properly play test and as a result we have to guess until we get an unofficial email from Frank.
I would say don’t worry about an FAQ because you’ll never know when it’s gonna hit. But when regionals are suppose to start next month and a System Open is next month that we just found out about yesterday and not from FFG, then yeah I’d worry about it. We have no clue what to practice with or what to expect. **** we don’t even know when the days are or if we should ask for days off of work or make travel plans. FFG is a mess right now. I think the leak really hurt the game and I think they are being childish and not releasing it. It’s not a coincidence that this is the longest time between FAQ’s in the game’s history.

I remember building the exact second place list for worlds 2015 (16?) just in a spur of the moment when PGS was like "can't you just play Miranda, Corran, and some APTs now that generics are worthless?" and I argued that a Prototype blocker would provide more value...turns out that made a bit of sense and that list building blocks in X-Wing are pretty simple.

FAQ leak was a hoax. dont stress about it. it revealed the toxicity in these forums and demonstrated some peoples willingness to lie to seem "in the know", but was otherwise meaningless.
That said the tournament scene (really any tourney scene) is by nature toxic. whenever you rate players by winrate and award prizes it reduces player desire to take risks or experiment. people play the OP bull evety game because it gas a 30% or whatever better winrate, and eventually its just jumpmasters vs jumpmaster leapfrogging eachother, autodamage, etc, with little variation.
as someone who played MTG since 1993, i can comfortably say going to tournaments is the best way to make a game work instead of fun. I'd rather lose to my brothers 150 points of z95 swarm in a custom game than win with jumpmasters. more fun

How do you explain that the wording in the leaked changes to Advanced Slam seems to line up with the Gunship preview (you can see the side of the updated Adv. Slam card that will be in the set). If the FAQ leak was a hoax, how did they guess correctly that Adv. Slam was going to be changed?

I mean there is always another FAQ coming, and its always gonna nerf certain builds and indirect boosts to others so...
I guess this one has more reality, but in the end if you don't know if its true or when it releases how is it any different than just assuming a meta list is gonna get FAQ'd next?
I still maintain that companies "leak" rumors on Buffs or Nerfs and Judge the reaction of the communities as a measure of "is this too far or not far enough?" or at least its what I would do with the anonymity of the internet and everyone's impulsive need to debate everything

Ripoff. The guy that made it has made all sorts of custom expansion ideas for all kinds of stuff, including b-wing, t-65, scum Falcon etc. those two just happened to end up in game. I think his original idea for the x/7 was -3 points and the free evade token if you weren't stressed. There's a forum post about it somewhere.

every single person on this board thinks that adv slam, jumps, attani, sabine, nym, integrated astro, etc are likely candidates for a fix. if someone was able to correctly guess 1 of the fixes (the most obvious btw) then good for them. a stopped clock is right twice a day. the wording and changes on the jump that the leak claimed were obviously not FFG for multiple reasons. the faq is also 2 months late according to the leaker who claimed gen con was the release. also, the leaker showed 0 proof, not a single piece of evidence. it doesnt take a lot to piece together that its fake. in fact, unless it is verified in totality, its proven fake, and everyone claiming to be in the know is a liar. thats how facts work. there are 4 lights god dammit!
