Silencer Overpowered ?

It's a new Action EPT. Debris-something.

Ah, so taking up a VI slot... and only Debris, so an opponent using asteroids can further limit it. So I guess its up to the Tech upgrades to give it just a touch more defensive power to push Kylo into the "New Soontir" slot.

I don't think it will be debris only. Probably all obstacles. Or maybe anything that can obstruct attacks. Then Trick Shot and Tactical Jammer get a LOT better.

Isnt it from a tech slot? If thats the case you would sacrifice the upgrade from something that would have been more useful... Well have to wait and see. Im on the side of the players who think the ship will be DOA because overpriced. For that pts cost the pilot ability needed to be much better than what it is.

...plus Youngster will be casting a semi-interested glance in it's direction.

No, it's an Action EPT.

It other words, basically unplayable. It might've been decent if it was a passive EPT (and even then PTL is better). Being an Action EPT puts it in the same vein as Expose, Marksmanship, and Daredevil.

Its even worst. My original point was that you wont be able to fortress (like Soontir...) if you dont have the evade action. You still wont be able to fortress if you dont have PTL...

And you won't be able to fortress if you don't have Autothrusters. It's a pretty well balanced thing actually. It just in a game that's got stupidly OP stuff in it.

The only way to get focus/evade with that will be using Advanced Optics. Which might be worth it.

Comm Relay probably wastes the EPT a bit though; if it can get 2 evades but only one focus, why take the one that limits your evades and not the one that limits your focuses?

Oh, I agree it wastes the multi-evade benefits of the included EPT, but it could offer an alternative route into focus/evade fortressing. Maybe alongside Intensity?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm SUUUUUUUPER dubious of Intensity on any ship that can't generate 2 tokens in a round without Intensity, or reliably keep a token for a whole round, whilst engaged. The Silencer can do neither. If you can't do one or both, the first time you flip intensity whilst engaged and are forced to spend the token you get, you probably never get it flipped back up. A canny opponent just stays on you and focuses fire, and you lose the benefit of your EPT forever.

That's why I'm pretty convinced it only really works on Poe, Vader, Guri, and maybe anyone who can equip Glitterstim.

This.

I expect this EPT to come in at 1pt, and be playable in niche cases. Like it might be nice on a Jan Ors who wants to hide behind rocks.

And on TIE Silencers with EI.

Hahahahahahahahhahahaha.

No.

On Silencers with Advanced Optics, just maybe, but I very much doubt it.

This.

It should be on the back of the oversized box within the ships description, something like this:

Engineered for speed and incredible handling, the TIE silencer is devastating in the hands of those who can unlock its full potential. Lesser pilots, however, are often overwhelmed and unable to maintain control of the nimble craft. Fortunately for the First Order, the TIE Silencer Expansion Pack for X-Wing™ pairs its sleek and menacing, pre-painted miniature starfighter with a quartet of talented pilots, including the dark side Force user Kylo Ren. Additionally, you’ll find twelve upgrade cards, one condition card, a maneuver dial, and all the plastic and tokens you need to launch this pretty well balanced ship in a game that's got stupidly OP stuff in it!

It's a jouster. Everything about it screams being a jouster but because it's got green turns everyone's gone "OMG SOONTIR FEL 2.0 OMG OMG OMG", when the green turn is about the last thing that it shares with Soontir.

Defensively it's a lot worse at avoiding taking fire and trying to live forever like Soontir. With more hull and Kylo's ability it's defensively set up to take a hit or two and deal with it. Soontir didn't have offense so the best you could do with him was kite and kite and kite and take the odd nibble out of the opponent when you could, but this has a target lock action and even a System slot for FCS if you want it, so the offense is a lot better.

Everything says jouster. Everything says keep it cheap, hit the opponent, dare them to hit you back.

But people are desperate to make it Soontir 2.0, so they'll come up with **** like this EPT/EI idea just to stack an evade token. I mean he's got a green turn so I guess you could at least fly circles around the asteroid and keep getting your evade...

Green turns, advsens, and boost barrel roll says arc dodger, but arc dodger just isn't really a viable archetype any more.

Good point. What would be an ideal jouster build for Kylo?

FCS Expertise Autothrusters probably.

Arc dodger has NEVER been a viable archetype (to my knowledge). Turtling Arc Dodger has been good.

FCS, ASTS (for crits for your ability and to keep cost down), Autothrusters. 3 passive dice mods and the action of your choice, anything else is a luxury.

I'd sooner take Intensity with Optics than the debris EPT. And even I doubt the usefulness of Intensity on the Silencer for the same reasons you do.

I think we're stuck with PTL on this thing, or maybe VI in certain cases.
