I am new to the game and am looking for other Star Wars Armada players. I am in the Truro/New Glasgow area and am looking for card shops or players that organize tournaments or game nights. I also go to Halifax often if there are organizers in that area.
Armada in Nova Scotia
Hi, I live in Halifax and would also like to keep abreast of any Armada events. I've been collecting the models for a while but have grown interested in playing with them finally!
I believe there are sporadic events at the Board Room game cafe and Games People Play here. You may also be able to find opponents during X-Wing nights at those locales as well as other stores like Monster Comic Lounge. I know far less about the comic and game shops off the Halifax peninsula.
Hey BigLev,
Thanks for the info, I will have to keep my eye open for some events. I'm just starting to get into the game and I love it so I'm always looking for opportunities to play. I will definitely come up for the next event.
The stomping grounds card shop in Truro has x-wing nights and there are a few people who are into armada. They play there most Thursday nights as far as I know so if your up for a trip it may be worth a call to get the schedule.
I'm sure there will be something going on soon with the upcoming wave 7 release so hopefully we can face off soon!
Are you guys still playing? I live in Halifax and am getting the game for Christmas. I will be playing with my friend, but I don’t know if he’ll like it enough to buy his own set. In any case, playing with different people is always good!
I am still playing, I don't have a huge collection yet but I have the core set and a few expansions for both the Empire and rebels so I have enough gear for two people to play.
I'm 100% down to make the trip up to Halifax now and then to get some games on the go. We could meet up at the board room cafe or something.
Also there is x-wing/imperial assault night in Truro every Tuesday so if people are interested we could meet up there. Also if we get 4 or more people interested we could probably get him to start organizing quarterly tournaments.
Regardless let me know when you get your set and I'm sure we can figure something out!
Awesome, the board game cafe in Bedford is right close to my house. Once I get my set (and probably a couple of expansions, who am I kidding haha) I’ll let you know. If my buddy gets into it and BigLev is too, maybe we can get a bigger game going
I spend my summers in Cape Breton, If there are ever any events let me know.
@Philn64 , @Rye113 I'm moving from London to Halifax permanently next October(ish) and will also be there from mid May to the end of July next summer.
I'll bring a fleet with me when I first visit so if anyone want a game or few, that'd be great. Ultimately I plan to hook into whatever Armada community is already there and do what I can to support and bolster it. I've got a decent collection for both factions and am happy to share.

We visited Cape Breton last year and it was beautiful. Great place to spend your summer!
Man, though, those drives don't look that far on a map. Whoo!

Sounds good to me! Just send a note whenever your in town and we can set something up. We seem to be generating some interest in setting up a more organized commnity in Nova Scotia, and I know a few guys that own card shops so I'm gonna start talking to them about participating in the store championship tournaments. Also once every one is settled and has their fleets ect. I will start organizing weekly or monthly armada nights depending on peoples availability.
I will do! It's great to make some new contacts. Looking forward to getting some games in and meeting people when I'm there.
Hey if anybody wants to get some games in, I would be down. I am 100% le newb hehe!
I am out of town this coming weekend, but am generally free in the evenings and would be available any other weekends as well! Just need to plan ahead a bit and I can generally be very flexible outside of regular work hours.

I'm also available outside of working hours. I'm living in New Glasgow so I can't make it to Halifax in the week but I would be able to make it to Truro. The card shop there has x-wing/ imperial assalt night there every Tuesday so we could start going there if it's not to far. Also I'm planning to come to Halifax either this weekend or next so I will bring my stuff and message you.
The trick to week nights is that I wake up between 430-5am for work so am not available too late as a rule. Good for around town but that's about it.
I don't see or hear of much LGS organized stuff for Armada here. Doesn't mean it can't happen, we could ask for a weekend game night kit maybe. I suspect they did more when it first launched but trailed off over time. Last time I spoke to an LGS guy about the topic he said a lot of their xwing regulars also played Armada but casually at home sort of thing.
I’ve been doing some investigating for locations in Halifax. I went to the board game cafe in Bedford and called Games People play. The guy at the BGC said there’s not really any people who play armada there, but he said that there’s a good scene at the BGC downtown. I’ll contact them to see. The guy a Games People play said there are some regular players there and that they would maybe run an event soon so to check their FB page. Weekend nights are probably the best for me, but we can definitely organize stuff. I just have to wait to get my stuff at Christmas haha

If you want to play some games with things you don't yet have, I happen to have 2-3+ of everything except the Quasar Fire and Home One.

I could also lend some gear for a game until you get your set, but I don't have nearly that much. If you guys wanted to we could just set up a game night some weekend in the near future here. We could do like 3 games and just rotate, have one person as a judge between game or whatever. Something along those lines.
The other location that seems to sell decent amounts of Armada is the Monster Comic Lounge. They don't seem to have much space unless they have a back room though. It's just a block away from where I work so I drop in semi regularly but haven't asked about Armada in a long time.

Yah I am interested for sure. Having played very little I am as interested in watching it be played as I am in playing it! If we arrange it at a store somewhere, we could also ask them to post it on their Facebook or wherever they advertise. But either way its all good to me!

Sounds like a plan to me. I would say we should aim for a weekend, maybe like 2-3 weeks out since your not around this weekend? If that works for everyone. Once we figure out the exact date and who wants to come out we can figure out which store and a time and all that.
I think that Games People Play had or has a regional, so there is some organised play there.

Yah they had something, maybe even earlier this year? I haven't been to GPP in a couple years. Maybe it is better now, but their first location was pretty small and had a bit of a stereotypical Magic den thing going on. People I know have had mixed reviews, some go there regularly for Magic, others were put off by various factors common to the usual gamer dens. I am told their new location is quite a bit larger and they seem to be one of the main Magic spots in town these days, so space can't be a big issue nowadays for them. I just find I am downtown downtown infrequently and usually doing other things!

If you guys find any other Armada players, grab some contact details and we can try and assimilate them into the collective!
What about Friday 1 December in the evening? I won’t have any ships or anything, but since I’ve never played, I can just watch a game to learn

I can probably make it up for around 6-630. I work till 430. I'll bring both my fleets if you want to learn. I'll also be in town this coming Sunday and Monday so I'm fairly flexible this coming week.
