2 T70s + Compliment

By Ohnoeszz, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am fairly certain this archetype is superior to 3 T70s which have gotten a lot of love here. At the same time, it is not nearly as well explored... Let's address that.

Jess Pava - R2-D6, snap shot, integrated astromech, comm relay

Nien Nunb - snap shot, r3-a2, integrated astromech, comm relay

Wookie Liberator - snap shot, operations specialist, Jan Ors

This list has as many as six attacks at range one. With comm relay and IA, these are 8 health x wings with the ability to restock an evade midgame to immitate regen. If one of these ships attack, they either do damage or token stack. You can get a focus and evade onto a stressed ship in the same turn.

This list plays like a bully. It will joust most anything. Snap shot, operations specialist T-70s provide some high end knife-fighting with the ability to k or talon.

This is a variant of a list I've been playing with success in tourneys. (other list features no comm relays, Jan ors or auzituck, but eaden vrill as area control with anti-pursuit lasers, and feedback array to punish high PS low health)

I have more, but I want to see some 2 T-70 lists meant to maximize the t70s.

SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT

That list sounds like a lot of fun. Whenever I try Snap Shot, I end up failing to get it to work as often as I'd like. That said, this is a really nice way to get Ops Spec in there with Snaps, which is darn cool.

I’ve tried to do this, but two decent t-70s take up a lot of points.

The snapshot plan seems like it might be pretty fun.

I'm not sure I like the Comm Relay/Jan Ors plan. It's 8 points for essentially 2 shields; how easy is it to get them refilled in practice? Perhaps not too hard with Operations Specialist and Snap Shot. Actually, that might make it work. I definitely don't like CR/JO without OpSpec. However, handing out free tokens might be enough to make the combo work.

An alternative might be to upgrade Wookiee Liberator to Lowhhrick, swap Jan for Tactician (to double-down on the stress tricks), and swap Comm Relay for Pattern Analyzer. That's something pretty nifty on Nien Numb, for example, where he can pull a red, boost into Range 1, then lose the stress. It might be hard to keep Lowhhrick in Range 1 though, since Nein and Jess would probably both like to Boost somewhat often.

More broadly, I certainly think having an Auzituck/T-70 mix will be stronger than all T-70. In some ways, the question is whether that's better than just going all Auzituck. :P

I like having 2 generics at around 25 points a piece and a large ship at around 50. They're pretty beefy lists that are forgiving to mistakes and can still dish out decent damage.

I really like the idea of this list. Having tried x-wings, exhaustingly, I am wrestling with A major flaw: unable to knife fight. Your list is great for the first pass, but it could have trouble staying in formation on the turn. Thus loosing Jan/Ops Specialist ability.

I have ave been trying out a combo with Snap that is similar to how the Flyig Tigers (P-40’s) fought in WW2. Hit, run, THEN turn:

•Jess Pava (31) - T-70 X-Wing
•R2-D6 (1), Comm Relay (3), Integrated Astromech (0), Snap Shot (2)

•"Snap" Wexley (35) - T-70 X-Wing
Intensity (2), •BB-8 (2), Comm Relay (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

•Lowhhrick (34) - Auzituck Gunship
Lightning Reflexes (1), •Jan Ors (2), Operations Specialist (3)

Lowhhrick and Jess stay in formation while Snap speeds out and rearms comm relay. I like the surprise on faces as Lowhhrick pulls a talon roll with Jess and Lowhhrick is still there giving Jess evades and re-rolls.
