Nym with vi adv sensors tlt and bomblet. Just tell him straight up what this game is actually about- running into your opponent until they die

I am a big fan of this list for new guys.
4 X Green Squadron Pilot, Deadeye, Snap Shot, Cruise Missiles, Guidance Chips.

Its reasonably powerful, the ships are fairly forgiving with 2 shields and there's just enough upgrades to keep track of. Also since all four ships are the same, it helps the new player keep track of whats going on more easily.
Snap if the enemy is close, Cruise if they are far. Snap Cruise!

I think that's a great list. Great opening, should finish well if you don't hit a bomb.
