some starter decks to get another player into the game

By Vrijewandelaar, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Hello there,

im wondering if any of u know/got some great starter decks i can use to play with a friend of mine and hopefully bring him into the game :D i have 3 core sets. i think i would like to play crab and for him i guess something "easy" to play

As much as they kind bore me: For demos, the best way to go is often a straight-up Lion aggression / Swarm deck, versus a Crane political conflict deck with a little control thrown in.

If you're set on playing crab, Lion would be a fairly straight-forward match up (mostly military conflicts, though Lion have a few surprisingly nice political characters, especially the Brawler, and they can sneak in honor wins once in a while). Also, that way you get attack-bonus focused - Lion- vs. defense & counterattack focused - Crab. On the other hand, if you have him play Crane, he can see how a powerfully political deck works, and also Crane are just very good in general so they're a nice deck to learn with for a lot of people.

For Crab there's some sample decks over here on the Crab Clan Forums.

not realy set on crab just seems fun to play.

Oh, Crab are great, I just mean that they're not necessarily one of the easiest clans for someone to learn the game with (or playing against). It depends a lot on the person who is learning, and the teaching style of the demo-er.

ah so.

we are both avid card game players.
Lord of the rings CCG
World of Warcraft CCG
Game of Thrones LCG 1st edition
Game of Thrones LCG 2nd edition (just a tiny bit) he stopped playing
Arkham Horror LCG (my game we both play)

so i hope i can bring him in

he should have no problems then. I would take a different approach and get him to pick a clan he likes then throw together a quick deck for that clan.
