Optimal way to collect Latari

By Felessan, in Runewars Miniatures Game

First of all, thank's a lot for all advises forwardly.

Second - sorry for poor English, it isn't my native language.

Third - I've bought two of all boxes for daqans and waiqars except for skeleton archers, oathsworn cavalry and heroes (just 1 box of each, probably I'll buy another boxes of archers and cavalry, but later). So now I can't decide, which complect is better - either 1 latari starter and 3 boxes of latari archers, leonxes and scions, or 2 latari starter and 2 boxes of each line units. Of course, they will be accompanied with one box of Megan and 2 command boxes. So, what variant will be best in my situation?

I am fairly certain 2 starters and 2 of others is better. Costs less and has more archers.

I have two sets of the starting box.

Yesterday I ordered Maegan, one box of Scions and two boxes of each from the command set, the archers and the cavalry.

I have 2 starter boxes and 1 of everything + 2 command right now, I plan to test but see another Leonx and Archers in my future.

I have the same as Darthain, and I may also buy more as time goes on. It will just depend on what my tray needs end up being and which units I find myself consistently wishing I had more of.

@Felessan It's important to realize as well that when you're looking at your collection 1-2 years from now and elves have at least 3 or 4 new units, you may find that you didn't need as many of the core units as you first thought you did because either they've phased out for you or you find your self using a mix of lots of units. If you over invest in core stuff now, you might be wasting your money. Imagine if you had invested in X-wing in Wave 1 or 2. There were only a handful of different ships then, so for the sake of build variety, you might have foolishly bought multiple Y-wings . Yeah just let that sink in. Just remember that in the future elves will probably have more cavalry than just leonx and probably even more archers than just deepwood archers. They'll fill different niches and roles (hopefully), but in the long run they won't be the only ones.

I have one core, and one of each expansion. I need one more command pack and derpwood pack and then I'll be content with what I can build until darnati show up. Maybe one more leonx, but that can wait.

2 starters for sure. That should meet most your archer needs, your scion needs, and realistically probably your leonx rider needs from a model and dial prespective.

I am then getting:

1 archer

1 meghaen

1 command

2 darnati boxes (once releazed).

I have a sizeable undead force though so I have most the cards. The one card I am missing is column tatics from the leonx box but I am hoping that will be included in the death knight box once released.

I also only need 1 command since I have old warhammer/AoW/Reaper models I am using as command to add variety. So you may need 2 command. You also may choose to get the leonx riders. I just never saw myself running 6 of them and decided I would buy that if I deemed it necessary later.

Thank's a lot again for all answers. But all of you answered basing on units - and what about upgrade cards? Will the upgrades from 1 of scions, leonxes and archers be better, then upgrade from starter?

You mentioned you had a sizeable collection already. With my undead guys from the Leonx Rider box I was missinh Column tatics but that is coming out with Death Knights. So if you are intending to continue connecting undead you should be good. From the scion box you will be missing viscious roots.

If you buy the stuff I mentioned in a previous post, which was two starters, 1 maegan, 1 archer, 2 command, and 2 or more darnati. The only two you will be missing are the two above. Column tatics will be released with Death Knight. Viscious Roots will probably never be released outside of the Scion box.

You could also add variety with other company figures if your just playing with your friends. Reaper has some cool models you could use as command figures. So does Avatar of War. I have found that the wood elf stuff from Warhammer is mostly too short compared to the latari so stay away from those.

The only correct way to properly do it is to not start. The undead hordes will soon overtake all of Terrinoth anyway

The only upgrade card you might consider wanting a double of is hunters guile, I guess, and that is in the archers.

There are no other upgrades I can see wanting more of from those packs, leonx in fact have nothing faction specific so your other armies will get more of them anyway.

The undead made the Uthuk hide once, but rest [in pieces] assured it will not happen again.
