A little more about RPGSoundMixer:

It allows you to control and mix sound.

Oh...wow. That's awesome. That's incredibly awesome. That's so awesome, in fact, that it made my otherwise crummy day okay after all. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!

Awesome, glad you liked it. Below is a sample output. Occasionally I'll write a 'between game' story to advance the plot and send it out to my group. Sometimes I'll read the script and record it, then mix it down with RPGSoundMixer, and send them an audio (or video) story update. The link contains an MP3 that I sent out to my players. Ignore the content, it was near the end of a 5 year campaign and the story is quite convoluted - I won't bore you with the details. My voice was modified using an old version of MorphVoxPro, recorded with Audacity, then pieced together and mixed with RPGSoundMixer. I read all parts of the script except the 'girl', who was voiced by my talented daughter.

My voice can be a little difficult to understand at times, so there is a script included in the zip. It's a simple thing. It took longer to zip it up and upload it than it did to produce it.

P.S. Just to be clear, I'm not associated with these guys at all. I helped translate the manual as a favor (just because it's so awesome). This is not a sales pitch, just a cool tool for roleplaying.

Here's another sample, if you have RPG Soundmixer. It's the Inn sound-event I mentioned above.

This is a 'library'. When you open it in RPG Soundmixer, it will add the files in the archive to your collection. Then, if you 'export' this event, you can import it into your own library at will. It's an 8mb file. The music and sound in it come from the Freesound Project and are public domain (so no copyright issues here).

This file is useless unless you have RPG Soundmixer. I'm not sure, but it may require the full version. I know you can't save files in the demo, but I'm not sure if you can load files in the demo.

Inn Event Library

We use the "Age of Conan Sound Track". Great stuff!

I don't like RPG SoundMixer for 2 reasons :

1. It's ugly as hell and not user friendly

2. It's not free

So here's my alternative (yet less powerfull tool) :

softrope.net/

Does softrope come with a manual? Or sounds?

No sounds (but RPG SoundMixer neither, I think ?). It's pretty easy to find lot of sounds over the Internet (Freesound Project, or just google).

There's no manual, and that's a shame. The program is very easy to use, It doesn't really need manual, but I would have like to have a readme to explain me what the heck is pre-delay and sequential triggering.

Except that, I've fooled around with the program and it's really nice!

Yes, RPGSound Mixer has a manual (as stated above, I translated it from German for the writer). You'll never have to use it though. It's a pretty intuitive program. It also comes with some sound effects and music (including some sound scenarios). I also get my sound effects from Freesound.

I've fooled around a bit with Softrope. It's very nice and easy to use! Here's a sample I've made from my TGS module.

Here's the little scenario I've made for the test :

A little bit of walking around Stromdorf, then entering a smooth tavern, going back outside in the streets and heading to the Morr's Gardens while it's full of zombies :)

Enjoy!

I suggest the OST of the game Lair. The game is crappy, but the music is awesome, mostly for epic combat scenes !

Boltthrower is amazing music for any WH game, we use it a lot of DH and our (now defunct) WHFR game, their first couple of albums were completely inspired by Warhammer and had album covers done by GW artists. If you like your metal black, Boltthrower is a good choice. We also use some Emporer and Cradle of FIlth, but its all has lyrics, which some people find distracting.

If your open to electronic stuff, check out anything by Velvet Acid Christ, Suicide Commando and Wumpscut, especialy the newer wumpscut stuff, very evocotive of mood.

Ummmm Wumpscut, I'v been using some Siva Six and Nacthmahr as well for DH, its very industrial and stompy. What I normally do is make playlists in spotify, that way I don't have to rely on anything except for an internet connection and having to lug about a laptop AND the box with bits would be a nightmare.

You know Wumpscut? I run most of my music off of an iPod and a set of portable surround sound speakers, very easy to control and the newer ones have a good battery life. About the only Apple product i don't think is a complete waste of money

Don't get me started on apple :P But yer I'm apparently whats considered an oldschool industrial retard.
