2 schools per clan

By Kakita Renju, in Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game Beta

Am i missing something ?
We where expecting for each clan to have a bushi, a courtier And a mistical shugenja/monk School so at least 3 school per clan.
having the dragon clan dont have the mirumoto school is very odd because it's 60% of the dragon clan.
Togashi monks should rare.

You probably skipped some early bits. They explained at the beginning of the beta book that it wasn't the full final product and that some schools were left out of this particular document.

Thanks, i skipped the early bits of the book i didnot wanted to read what a rpg is and how it works :P

It's a beta test. This is a stress test of the rules mostly and I suspect when it is finalised we'll see more additions (they're probably still theorising on them).

Pg 33.

yeah they definitely will add more school

besides, it's odd not seeing mirumoto bushi here (also because they quoted in dragon clan description that "dragon bushi use niten technique")
also is odd not having butei as part of scorpion (i think is almost a must see... even more then the shinobi school...)

i would like to see the lion's pride school for matsu too :D

That raises the question foremost in my mind about schools. Not whether we'll see more schools in the core, we will, but what additional options may become available in the future.

The Lion's Pride is an excellent example because it has become so iconic to the Lion, but ever since it's inception has been an advanced school, and was the first such school for the Lion in 2e. How will they execute that? Perhaps as alternate techniques with greater prerequisites?

Likewise there are schools like Isawa Tensai which were until 4e, base schools, but in 4e were an alternate path school. Will they go back to being a full school? Be braided into the Isawa Elementalist? Or kami forbid gotten rid of entirely?

Very exciting to eventually see.

I always had problems with 3 schools. shiba...I never saw anyone interested in a samurai who gave bonuses to others at his expense, he would prefer a courtier who is more interested in the philosophy of fenix. Shosuro...the only ninja in the middle of honorable samurai, there is always someone wanting to play, it is difficult because he has to show himself a samurai (bushi or courtier) and his purpose usually does not converge with the group . Shinjo... only useful on a horse, would prefer a bonus to the clan or family and a bushi that used a cavalry weapon as the crab uses the tesubo.....
