Throwing myself into the Lot5R lore - Where to begin?

Hi.

I am a huge fan of AH:LCG and LotR:LCG and i got plenty on my hand with these. I have everything there is to have about these games (except a few promotional items). I could say the same about Descent and Runebound products but those are not LCGs so i'll skip that part.

Ok, i like and invested a lot on said games; this has been established.

Thought i don't know squat about Lot5R and the theme always left me like "meh...", there is something compelling about the art, the style of play and story of the game. A little bit of "exploration" by attacking someone else's region card and not knowing what lurks there. An ambush? a storm? as we already know with FFG's LCGs, a lot could happen to the card pool with crazy twists (we saw that in AH:LCG).

I thought about playing Crab since their stoic, grumpy and honorable traits represent me, more or less. I've read only a little on every faction aspects but it seems that there is so much since the world of Rokugan has already been around for a while.

Which faction do you plan on playing the most (at least for starters) and what would you recommend as a good resource to learn more about the lore?

You can read all the story that has been put out, so far. There's one for each clan, one for the first story decision, and a couple that have been put out since GenCon. That, along with the bits of flavor text on cards, comprises the entirety of official lore we have at the moment.

Fantasy Flight games have reset the history of Rokugan from the CCG and have changed significant elements. The full ramifications of those changes, as well as what they've decided to bring over from the CCG and what they decided to ditch, is unclear. Because of that, there's no way to tell what of the old lore is applicable.
