Magnaguard Death Timing

By bgrelle, in Star Wars: Destiny

If my game is down to just my one magnaguard and my opponent has only one character left at the start of a round and they do enough damage to kill my magnaguard but then I manage to do enough damage with my "now a zombie" guard to kill their character, do I win the game or is it a draw? I am thinking that I win due to their character dies right away and the guard doesn't die until the round is over but wanted to make sure.

When your last character dies, you lose immediately. Your guard dies much much later, at the end of the round, not even a timing issue.

Yea that's what I was thinking. It really pissed off the wife in our game the other day when she dealt the full 8 points of damage in one roll then I added the damage tokens to it and she said "But it only has 8 HP it's dead." and I showed her the card. I rolled all damage but most of it had a resource cost and I had no resources thanks to using my only 2 to play "training" on the guard to add a second die to him. But thanks to Electrostaff reducing the cost of one of the character die to 0 and Imperial War Machine and Imperial HQ for the other two I was able to use them all and kill off her Asoka. It was an amazing moment for me, but not so much for her since she had no die control cards in hand.

That seems like a really solid strategy.

I actually was very close to just quitting the game when she got the 8 damage on first try but then I thought it out and decided to see what would happen. Then I got the crazy lucky roll and had to play it out. It's really not the best for us to play each other because we both are very competitive and hate to loose.

My wife still remember the first 1 vs 1 we played ever, wich was a videogame (Culdcept on ps2 and dreamcast), Back then I killed a sprite on a weak terrain to capture it, had very impact on the game, but 14 years later, she still remember it as: "I don't play fair against her and I play too competetively" ;)
