Te Return of the VT-49. Is the Decimator the biggest threat to the Scurrg H-6?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

SO one thing I noticed (besides being a lot of Nyms on the table) is that when Imps bring that once forgotten flying turret that they had sitting in their space garage, not even Nym survives?

Taking a look at it yeah the VT-49 has more health, put Oicunn and you won't worry about getting shot, put palp and you will hit, put Kenkirk and you have just as much defense as Nym.

So is this the return of the VT-49 Decimator?

I've flown against several VT builds, not with Nym, and gotten beat up. Even the few that I won were blood baths. Flown competently it should kill Nym. I'd take vs a Nym build.

The problem with Decimators is what to pair them with. Most possible wingmen are very weak to bombs or just not strong. Double Deci or with an Upsilon could be an option.

maybe RAClo ryad with a side of palp?

In a metagame of damage that comes in small pieces but is difficult to stop, a big hog like the Decimator is well equipped.

Other ships can expose the same weakness for many fewer points (eg. Scouts), but yes the Deci is good at present.

Imperial Boba + VI + Cruise Missile + Guidance Chip + Slave 1 + Extra Munitions

Could be fun...

...another Decimator?

Played vs RAC/Palpatine, Kylo and Patrol Leader/Vader at Nationals. It's a mean old beast of a list in a 2/3 ship environment.

Decimators are a decent way to oppose instant damage as it has zero agility anyway.

But it's the Kylo part of RAC/LO that really dumpsters Nym lists as they usually only comprise of two ships and once Nyms buddy (or henhimslef) iis blinded he's right for the picking.

but yeah it'll work

I didn't know the blasted things ever left. XD

they have plagued my a-wing list since day one. They make me reconsider putting chardaan refit on them. And my B-wings can last maybe 3 rounds against them if I keep them behind rocks.

They laugh at my tractor beam double tap tie/d.

So yeah, in short they are fine for a meta like this. Only thing is that if a list can consistently put two ion tokens on the board a turn they might run into trouble.

2 words: Gun boat :-) Could be a nasty combo. Throw your missile then slam around throwing CC with the small canon.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE Oicunn or RAC paired with Kylo-RS-Weapons Guidance.

you could pretty easily just pair a deci with Quickdraw

Quickdraw is legit and has an auxiliary arc to run away from bombs with while still shooting

I was running Expertise Kenkirk w/ Wampa and Countdown earlier this year, but shelved them to run Triple Strikers and Palp Shuttle. It might be time to bring them back.
