The single best ship to kill Nym

Mine is Captain Oicunn:

Oicunn: Daredevil (optional), Emperor Palpatine, Mara Jade, Ion Projector, Dauntless

Use the Emperor to guarantee that ion, and Nym's going nowhere. And if you need to get an extra damage if your wingmates have already ionized Nym, you can use Daredevil instead and use Palp to take to damage.

What is your best anti-Nym ship?

5 TIE strikers.

I've played against him in varying configurations, and each time save the very first (before I figured out he was the priority 'first kill') he's gone down like a sack of potatoes to 15 attack dice at medium range in one-to-two turns.

I'd imagine 5 Kihraxz, Unguided Rocket TIE Bombers, Mangler Cannon Scyks, or any other heavy swarmer would make a similar mess of him.

All of them. Kill him dead with your whole list then move on.

3-5 ship lists with the hp to ignore bombs / tlt until he is dead.

2x contracted scouts w/ attani, IA, and apl + 2x bin pirates w/ cruise and chimps + sunny w/ light title.

Recently I've been hunting Nym with a pair of Scyks & HWK-290s and so far have yet to lose a single match.

Oicunn Meat Grinder is risky against either Nym, because with Genius they can still bomb you, and on average, they still hurt you a lot before you go down - Rebel nym with Sabine will kill you quicker than you can kill him, Scum Nym is slower but takes less damage into the bargain.

Dash HLC outrider

3 + TLTs on the ships of your choice. Nym is likely to die in 2 rounds of focus fire and the bomblet generator is likely to not even come into play.

yeah, Dash is a very strong counter, especially to TLT Nym. You basically have to stay out of range or in his donut, or he kills you in 3 rounds.

Odd question... does Nym get to drop a bomb when Ionised?

Ships while Ionised - The Owner does not assign a maneuver to the ship, in the Activation Phase assign a white 1 forward to the ship
Bomblet Generator - When you reveal your maneuver dial, you may drop 1 Bomblet Token.

I thought he couldn't and Oicunn can twerk all over Nym until he is out of dollar bills.

If anyone says otherwise, I'll point them towards THIS logic.

Not before his manoeuvre, but there's a strong argument for Genius working whilst ionised, but no FAQ either way as yet.

Genius allows for reveal bombs to be dropped post 1 white forward maneuver without having to reveal a dial, but yes, Ion stops you from dropping a reveal bomb before the maneuver.

Edit: R4-E1 similarly allows Action bombs to ignore stress, reinforcing the idea that FFG believes Scum bombers do not need to follow the rules of the game :P

Four to five fully modified attack dice with enough hull/shields to tank the one or two bombs you may or may not get hit by. Additionally, his partner in crime is having to handle Rey and her one to two re-rollable agility, plus an evade token, plus C3PO evade result BS.

Add your own Miranda for shield regenerating, range 3 TLT shooting shens as well.

Definately wasnt an adv sensors Nym if 5 arcs where on him. I'd be surprised if more than two arcs could be on an adv sensors Nym.

My best Nym counter is PS11 Han w/ Navigator,Rey,Engines. I can get out of range of Nym ABT, and into range 1 of Nym with TLT. And with PWT, can do damage all over the field.

2x TLT boats for 50 points. Leaves plenty of list for answers to whatever else you'll face, available to all factions, and there's almost nothing Nym can do to avoid the damage. And once Nym is dead they're almost certainly going to help take down whatever else your opponent brought, since the ships that deal well with TLT fire don't fit into 50 point slots cleanly.

About half of them were. Boosts and barrel rolls are all well and good, but the key with Advanced Sensors Nym is not to try for range 1 shots - yes you can kill him very quickly with range 1 shots, but thats also where he can sabre-dance your arcs. At range 3 he is much less capable of evading arcs of fire. But yes, getting all 5 arcs on him is hard, but equally 3 to 4 can still chop him up pretty fast.

Maybe not the best ship, but the best one I regularly play:

Quickdraw with VI, FCS and whatever else you like on her pretty much owns Nym for almost 10 points less than what he costs.

As soon as you start, instantly gun the engine until you're within range 4 of Nym. Start lobbing Ion barrages at him while using Palps, Gunnery Team, and Sensory Team to ensure that you overcome whatever greens he can muster. Instantly slowboat it to speed 1 with only maneuvers to keep the collision course on track. Constantly use TL and Reinforce actions with AP if you need the odd shield boost. Maintain a deadpan glare with your opponent through each round as you recover from whatever damage Nym sends your way and you still manage to ionize him. See if you can destroy Nym with ion crits before reaching range 1. If he makes it within range 1, start popping Ionization Reactor using Tibanna as necessary to keep up the energy. Give your best Palpatine toothy grin as you either barely tap you base against his or finally destroy his ship after 10 rounds. Bonus points if you manage to make the killing blow be from Nym running into you. Extra bonus points if your opponent concedes out of frustration.

You'd better have a hot squad to take care of the rest of his group while you're doing this though.

Kylo RAC and then you put Nym at ps0 with a damaged cockpit early game. Enjoy :-)

No reason you should get eaten alive by the Scouts. Kylo can keep RAC alive long enough to reliably trade for one and a half Scouts, possibly two with a bit of luck, and the wingman can take it from there.
