What goes well with mc-30s?

By Grand Admiral Buford, in Star Wars: Armada

I finally have a pair MC-30s and I intend to field them together. However...

What would be the best addition to round out the list? I have the following in my collection currently:

MC-80HO

MC-80L

Neb B (x2)

CR-90 (x2)

Fighters 1 (x2)

Rogues

I was thinking that Ackbar and the MC-80HO would be a decent pairing but not sure how that would work with the big speed dif. Anyway, thoughts?

2 more MC30's.

In seriousness, 80/30/30 is one of my favorite lists to fly: it's a lot of fun, definitely recommend it with Ackbar. Home One can let you offload some points from the shrimp and be a little more cavalier with them--the trade-off is, once either of them does go down, it's a major hit to your offensive power. I've flown Ackbar Home One with a pair of MC30T's with ACM, OE, and TRC, and it is an absolute blast.

Throw in some mix of A-wings and X-wings for fire support or squadron cover and you're golden.

Liberty MC-80 with a pair of MC-30's is a good mix too. Liberty in the middle with an MC-30 to protect it's flanks.

TRC90s with Mothma commanding.

And cocktail sauce.

Definitely some good answers already but I'd be remiss not to add SW7s CR90Bs and/or Torpedo Hammerheads with Mothma or Rieekan if you just want to embrace a full aggro swarm approach.

So far, all of these sound like a fun way to give someone a bad day. Assuming I don't botch placement and dials.

I'd modify this to suggest 2 APT30s with a defense-oriented HMC80 and Dodonna.

Having an ISD with XI7s so you can burn those little shrimp into oblivion! :)

and cocktail sauce.

Did you use TRCs just to push damage in the Ackbar dice? I wouldn't have thought of that combo as others seem more obvious.

I've never actually flown a 80/30/30 list. Maybe it's time.

For 2xMC30, my lists are usually:

MC30/MC30/CR90/CR90/Flotilla

MC30/MC30/Pelta/CR90

I haven’t tried 80/30/30, but will be soon

MC30s are great ships with lots of options.

My favorites are using them as brawling ships and getting up close and personal. I find the Liberty works well. The 30s go in close while the Liberty gives great support fire.

Sticking a CR90B with Pride in with a couple MC30s is pretty powerful. The enemy is usually more worried about the MC30s allowing the CR90B to burn tokens, land crits, and finish stuff off.

A couple slow rolling Neb Bs aren't half bad either. The 30s go up for the punch and the Nebs provide the long range support.

Hammerheads with external racks can be fun. If you can get them in and use the launchers, the enemy usually ignores them in favor of the MC30s again allowing them to keep doing their work.

Mmmmm pickle and gerkins. My favorite snack, and method for dispensing slashing.

Garlic and lemon

Imperial turbo laser fire and a strong drink.

Initiative bid goes excellently with them. Stagger them so they arrive at targets on different turns and blast away! After that you just need something to finish off ships you couldn't quite get to die with your shrimp. If you stagger them against the same target there isn't much that will survive.

That's exactly what I used it for. TRC+ Home One means nearly 100% dice fixing (as long as you don't roll too many useless natural accuracies) on those broadsides. I haven't flown it post-nerf, so it'll be a little less awesome now in that respect, but still up there.

Mostly it's just funny to watch people's reaction to the TRCs:

"Hey, you know you can't use TRC on blacks, man."

"That is accurate."

"And you don't have any red dice."

"Don't I, though? >:}"

Note that 80-30-30 isn't especially meta-shatteringly good or anything. It's just a lot of fun. I also like NIPs' Dodonna version, though I prefer to strip those down to get 80-30-30-30 when I Dodonna.

Yup. 4x MC30 w/ Ordnance Experts and External Racks, flying alongside Toryn in a GR75, and then a small handful of fighters to provide some minimal cover (although hardly needed given how many blue-dice-with-rerolls you are throwing out against enemy squadrons) while you cut apart the enemy fleet. And the dang things have more shields than a Victory-class Star Destroyer !

That list is so annoying to fight.

The salty tears of your opponents as their ships go poof
