Why isn't Hondo in X-wing yet?

By darkjawa103, in X-Wing

Think how much fun this character could be. He was in the Clone Wars series and Rebels, so he has history. We have other pilots from the Clone Wars. What's keeping Hondo out? No idea what ship stats would be, but I did think of something for his ability that fits the character.

At the startof the combat phase you may remove 1 focus or evade token from a friendly ship within Range 1.

When you areassigned a damage card, you may assign that card to a friendly ship at Range 1.

Not having Hondo is like not having Cad Bane! Oh wait...

actually im surprised he wasn’t at least on the YV-666 or something similar.

Settle down. They don't even have kenobi yet.

They're probably saving him until one of the ships he actually owned gets added to the game.

That said, I do wish we'd gotten him with the C-ROC instead of Jabba, and they'd saved Jabba for the Star Jewel.

I don't think Hondo has ever owned a ship. Legally anyway. XD

I bet he owns a mere 50% of many ships.

The only sane reason I can think of to leave Hondo out of the C-ROC is that his Last Chance Sentinel Shuttle is on its way.

We've got a big season of rebels yet to come. I think he will make his way into the game very soon. Most likely as a crew.

I'd love something like this.

I really hope that doesn't happen and he comes with Flarestar Attack Shuttles or the Sorosuub 3000 instead.

Barf for using his Rebels appearance instead of his far superior Clone Wars look.

FFG tried to get him in a few waves back, but Hondo stole the entire Lady Luck expansion and it doesn't exist anymore. That's what happens when you try to make a deal with pirates.

If they are going to do Rebels era Hondo, they need to make is a crew card that is not faction restricted, and is low or 0 cost. His ability should be something that all players can choose to use once per round. Make it something that the player bringing it can probably capitalize on when list building and your opponent will likely get some benefit, but not as much since they were not expecting it.

Cause really, Hondo plays both sides in a fight pretty fast and loose. One of the things I liked about Hondo and Ezra's relationship was that Ezra fully expected to be betrayed by him all the time and operated with that expectation.

This is an old design of mine that I think fits your idea pretty well.

Hondo's help should be dubious at best, Hondo is here to help exactly one man and that man's name is Hondo.

It should be noted that I designed this during the extremes of Attanni initiative bidding, where I saw things like Travis Foss topping a Regionals with a 94 point list. It seemed reasonable to introduce a card that said "Okay, I can't have initiative? In that case, nobody can."

Oh I like it.

if the last chance were to enter the game I think his pilot ability should be along the lines of " when attacking, you may reroll your attack dice. When your opponent defends, they may reroll their defense dice."

My ability for Hondo in his shuttle read "When attacking, perform the 'Roll Defense Dice" and "Modify Defence Dice" steps before the "Roll Attack Dice" step."

Effectively, he cheats and doesn't play fair. Your opponent has to roll and modify their defence dice before they know how hard you're going to hit them.

Here is my take on a Hondo ability. Not sure about game balance and OPness so feel free to enlighten me if this idea sucks:

Once per round when you are declared the target of an attack, role one evade die. On a evade result, the attacker must target another ship if possible.

I think this fits his personality and is thematic as Hondo always seems to talk his way out of sticky situations (for the most part.)

But old man Hondo is just so lovable. He’s like your wacky uncle who gets you in trouble all the time and always up to something. Like Don Knots on Three’s Company crossed with John Candy as Uncle Buck with some Peter Venkman thrown in as well.

Is surprising he's not in the game yet. Everything else from Rebels is. Except Thrawn. This game needs moar Thrawn too.

I really love this design.

Scum Lambda.

Hondo crew could be:

Hondo - 2 points
Rebel / Scum only
Action: Choose a secondary weapon on another ship at range 1-2 and move it to yourself, then assign yourself a stress token and discard this card.

Scum Sentinel-class, actually, but yes.

Could be interesting if they decide to bring in the Sentinel. Much like they did with the Scurrg, they could have 4 Imperial pilots and 1 Scum. Not sure we need another shuttle though, unless its a blatant upgrade/replacement of the Lambda.

No! It's bad enough giving Imperial ships to other factions, but you can't give them an Imperial ship that even the Imps don't have yet!

Every shuttle on the Scum side of the table is one less Jumpmaster, and it would be a singular unique pilot. They can have all they want for all I care.

Barring some amazing pilot abilities and title(s), I am in absolutely no rush to the the Sentinel-class come out for Imperials, unless its like a mirror of a Lambda except has white 2 turns, red 3 turns, and costs at most 1 point more.
