The big ol' voluntary book swapping thread!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

@Absol197 If you don't mind me asking, which EG did you stop by? I've only been to the Highlands Ranch branch, but I drive past the Littleton one fairly frequently, and I've been meaning to stop by. I only haven't because I'm not a coffee person (and clearly not to be trusted). I don't know that I'm quite ready to be part of y'alls shipping cabal, but I'd be happy to use this as an excuse to check out the store and update the inventory :)

BTW, I love B&R, it's definitely my go-to (even if it is unfortunately north). I hope the next shipment from FFG includes a reprint of Savage Spirits (I swear, I'm the only person on these forums who's frustrated with the boat NOT for Ghosts, but because I can't find Spirits anywhere)

Umm...I don't know the cities. I'm very geographically challenged :P . The one on Colorado and County Line; is that the Highlands Ranch one?

I don't drink coffee, either, so :) . But they have great tea!

(And yes, Savage Spirits will be out again next week :) .)

EDIT: Wow, I'm dumb. The next street over is Highlands Ranch Boulevard. That would answer the question of which EG it was >_< .

I finally made it down to the FLGS. Here's the books they had in stock:

  • Edge of the Empire Core
  • Edge of the Empire Beginner
  • Lords of Nal Hutta
  • Jewel of Yavin
  • Mask of the Pirate Queen
  • Beyond The Rim
  • No Disintegrations
  • Fly Casual
  • Enter the Unknown
  • Age of Rebellion Core
  • Age of Rebellion Beginner
  • Forged in Battle
  • Stay on Target
  • Strongholds of Resistance
  • Onslaught at Arda I
  • Lead By Example
  • Friends Like These
  • Desperate Allies
  • Force & Destiny Core
  • Force & Destiny Beginner
  • Keeping the Peace
  • Chronicles of the Gatekeeper
  • Endless Vigil
  • Disciples of Harmony
  • The Force Awakens Beginner Game

I know they get deliveries from at least 2 distributors twice a week, so there's a possibility that they're able to get more than what they have on the shelves. I don't know if they ship directly, but that might be the most expedient method to complete transactions as they're still about an 40 minutes to an hour away in normal traffic. Anyone looking for any of the above books?

Umm...I'm not sure I want that one O_O .

It'd fit in with the Interrogator specialization they're putting in the Spy book, though!

Which, since the 'SW feel' is a topic here, I don't like. It just feels really wrong to play a torturer in the SW universe. Yes, I know we see Dr. Ball in Episode IV, but still.

I'll be swinging by Card Kingdom later tonight (hopefully to get my copy of Ghosts), so while I'm there I'll check the inventory and post what I can get my hands on later.

I think Dr. Freud might have stopped by while I was typing.

As I'm far to lazy to type, I'll just post pics of what my FLGS has:

Sadly, no ghosts - yet!

I see your FLGS also has a copy of Flay Casual.

Rise from your grave, thread! Thank goodness "flay casual" gets me right to this thread every time I search.

This book is not only for sale, it is for sale USED in great condition at my local FLGS. I had a chance to talk to one of the guys in charge down there, they are quite pleased to ship anywhere in the world but of course it is cost-prohibitive to ship internationally.

This FLGS has a great stock of all the lines, and a number of genesys items as well. I've started doing all my preorders and special orders through them.

Are they based in the US?

Edit: nvm, just noticed the link in your post. Thanks!

Yes - although you found the link, the causal reader might not. They're based in the US, in a suburb of Portland, OR. Rainy Day Games is the name of the business.

Not sure if this is true, but I heard from two of my players that Dawn of the Rebellion era book is out of print through fantasy flight? And that the FLGS they order through was unable to get it?

if that is the case I believe a store near me might have it if anyone is interested.

Edit: I just checked....dawn of the rebellion is out of stock on amazon and only one vendor on eBay is selling it from Alaska.

The days of getting the car and driving to my not-so-Local FGS are looong gone.. in the UK I don't think we have the supply from FFG. Every time I phone up they have everything I've got so now I just pre-order. I'd REALLY like to support a LFGS but the stock just isn't there and the way the stuff sells out pretty quickly I have to preorder.

I used to regularly go to a LFGS (which closed down due to tax evasion or somesuch) when I was getting the OWoD stuff,,,, I could just stroll in, peruse the stock and walk out with at least one splat (usually 2 or more)... good times.

It occurred to me:

Is there The Big Ol' Involuntary Book Swapping Thread?

Because otherwise, "voluntary" would be quite redundant.

Awesome! I'll let my players know. I believe they are more support the game store guys, but I'll let them know the book is available on Miniature Market.

I'm all for supporting the local game store, but when I need something quick, I'll take it wherever I can get it.

The Big Ol' Mandatory Book Swapping Thread is still a work in progress. However consider yourself signed up.
