Dr. Strange

By ovinomanc3r, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

That list follow my lately "theme". It is not as solid and has too less work on it. Actually it is the classic list you build in 2 minutes after one "if I...". At least I did it that way. But I really like how the pieces really assemble well. Let's get some feedback.

The list:

Dr. Strange (385/400)
=====================
Interdictor Suppression Refit (90 + 47)
+ Admiral Screed (26)
+ Disposable Capacitors (3)
+ Targeting Scrambler (5)
+ G7-X Grav Well Projector (2)
+ Overload Pulse (8)
+ Interdictor (3)
Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120 + 16)
+ Gunnery Team (7)
+ Leading Shots (4)
+ Avenger (5)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Ciena Ree (17)
Valen Rudor (13)
4 x Tie Fighter Squadron (8)
Opening Salvo
Hyperspace assault
Solar Corona

1. I chose an Avenger without BTs. I could also move to BTAv but I found Opening Salvo could be really good thanks to DCs and the ISD-II range. Other alternative would be an ISD I. Maybe with OE instead of GT and go back to Advance gunnery.

2. The interdictor. Classic pulse tap. I like it has three solid blue dice all around. Screed for guarantee. DCs to use with Avenger's range and maybe opening salvo. OS would mean 1R3U2B + 4R2B. Pulse guaranteed and avenger with 2 damage with crit guaranteed too. 5+5* damage at long range looks quite good to me.

3. The screen is just that. Sometimes it won't be enough but is there to do its job.

4. Objectives. I already talk about OS. That's an objective I always like but I find easily backfired. But I never played it enough to build a better opinion. Solar Corona is my good for all. I think with 7 deployments I need that advantage for my avenger. HA gives me 1 magic deployment but it looks so fun with that dictor. Unless I understand the rules wrongly gx7 fit fine with HA and I found really fun to put him at 0 deploy in his face and engineering+scrambling while pulse tap around to help my avenger approaching at speed 3. I could use it also as blocker to prevent escaping routes.

And that's all about my 2 minutes thinking process. Would you like to help me sharpen this list?

Overload Pulse with Disposable Capacitors and Avenger do work really well. Combined with Screed you will have the crit that you need (unless he evades it on the long range you are attacking).

The only bad part is, that this whole ship setup forces you into a specific activation order. One that is predicatable by the opponent. He can always react really free, because he know in what order you will activate the ships. Or even worse, he can force you to activate a ship that you didnt really want at this time (having to activate the Interdictor to ready the Targeting Scrambler for example). And this the only card that you can ready with the titel. I find it a bit to specific for it, but it does work well (if the opponent is at close range).

About the Hyperspace Assault and G7-X. Well, yes. It does work. You can block about 2/3 of the area where he can deploy. Forcing him to place the ships where you want, and maybe even block half of it with obstacles. But in this case he will just place them on the obstacles. And he can always place flotillas on these and place them away from you and fly out. Leaving you with no gain from the mission. Or place in the G7-X Token with your ships at the wrong space and waiting at the wrong postion.
I would rather abandon the G7-X and switch to Grav shift. You can do way more nasty things with this one :D.
And it would give you new missions, The Station Assault and Contested Outpost become way better this way. Same with Close-Range Intel Scan; Jamming Barrier and Salvage Run (and moving the Dust Fields around).

The squadrons are ok (for what you plan to do). But it will be hard to activate them with the two Comms Net on the Gozanti. But the main theme of the list is on the ships, and not on the squadrons. These are only for the screening, and for this it is fine.

That's the problem I always find thinking on Overload Pulse and the reason I never use it.

I didn't understand the interdictor title thing. It works when any ship activates not when interdictor does.

However thanks for the input.

Interdictor:

You are correct.

Specifically, its best used with Targeting Scrambler. When a suitable ship is defending, you Exhaust and use your Targeting Scrambler.

Then the moment any other ship activates - friend or foe - you can exhaust the Interdictor Title and Refresh the Targeting Scrambler, ready to defend the same ship if need be. Or itself if your opponent decides to try that.

Essentially, allowing the Interdictor to use it twice, but not during the same activation.

Its a "Exhaust this and Unexhast something else. And you can do it at the start of any ships activation, friendly or enemy."

Looks very similar to a PT fleet I made called Blue Gambit.

Lemme throw a pinch of advice about this:

a.) Find a way to put ECMs on that ISD. I guarantee you that ISD is a target because there's no other threat in your fleet.

b.) Be aware, even a perfect tap may not be enough with this set up. I dropped the interdictor in arcing 2 ships that could not escape avengers front arc using hyperspace assault an assault frigate and a liberty. Even with both tapped the avenger couldn't bring them down. (The interdictor simply does not have the firepower to back an ISD PT fleet)

I ran blue gambit at a tournament got a perfect PT in every match and still came in last.

Link to fleet to show similarities:
