So...when FAQ for EaW Set?

By blackholexan, in Star Wars: Destiny

The previous 2 sets received the extensive FAQ document (and a few errata) just a week after their availability and therefore before being legal in premier tournaments.

There is no sign of this yet....

Why do you guys think it's taking more time this time?

I bet you a nickel it comes this Friday. Just because you asked.

Maybe it's been delayed because of the departure of Lukas...

Has nothing to do with Lukas. Has to do with Disney. If they want to change anything it takes their approval.

That is kinda overkill that Disney need to approve simple rules update....

"Very very soon". That is a quote from Lukas in an interview with the Chance Cube last week. Now what that means is debate-able, but it's all the solid information we have I believe.

So Disney taking time to approve something is a complete shock to FFG, something they could never have possibly expected or factored into the schedule?

Please. They've been working with Disney for how many years now? This is known and predictable. If it's just a scheduling fail, it's on them. If they had to send it back in for re-approval, maybe they should stop dropping an untested mess with each set so the players are the ones discovering necessary errata.

Disney micromanages FAQ's? I understand new products but FAQs?

Shhhh... It's all part of the conspiracy...

That wouldn't surprise me. Back in the early days of Heroclix, people complained that it took too long for the DC based sets to come out. The reason for that was that every portrayal of character, use of picture, whatever had to be approved by someone at DC before WizKids was allowed to use it. And each step of the production had to be approved individually. WizKids was willing to do it but it meant a slower release schedule compared to the Marvel based sets. I don't know if its still like that or not (I doubt it) as I haven't followed Heroclix for many many years but that level of micromanagement would surprise me in the slightest.

Yes anything FFG posts or publishes on their site about Star Warshas to go through Disney, even guest writer strategy articles go through Disney.

What makes you believe it's a scheduling fail? It's customary for an FAQ to drop weeks after the most recent release, that's a fairly consistent trend amongst their games.

Getting one on/prior to release is the unusual occurrence. It happened for SoR, but if you remember SoR was leaked well before its release. That leak meant that FFG started to get questions on rules interactions well prior to even the pre-release events. The FAQ came out so early because the leak caused everybody to start picking things apart much earlier.

Under normal circumstances FFG is waiting for feedback before the build the initial FAQ. Basically they are waiting to see what the frequently asked questions are before putting them into the FAQ, which is why you consistently see it happen weeks after release.

It seems like you and others had unrealistic expectations of when the FAQ would be occurring based on the most recent one. But you need to consider the circumstances of that instance and their normal MO in this type of thing. It's absolutely not unusual for an FAQ to come out within a month of the latest product release.

Australian Nationals are happening this weekend. They could be waiting until after that, as FAQ changes are up to the discretion of the TO. Many FN-2199 players would be pissed if their main boy got nerfed just before the big tourney.

Micky needs treatment for OCD and paranoia.

You make a fair point. I'll agree that our expectations may not have been in line with FFG's typical behavior, but I'll disagree vehemently that they're unrealistic. FFG's rule handling continues to be an absolute embarrassment for a company of its stature.

But you're right - I obviously let the prompt response with the SoR rules fool me into thinking they were doing better. Quite unrealistic on my part.

Attention to this thread...again.
