Somebody talk me down

By teeseeuu, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm thinking about taking this to a small store tournament:

Raiders of the lost Arq (400/400)
================================
Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120 + 62)
+ Admiral Screed (26)
+ Gunnery Team (7)
+ Boosted Comms (4)
+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Leading Shots (4)
+ Spinal Armament (9)
+ Avenger (5)
Raider II-class Corvette (48 + 8)
+ Overload Pulse (8)
Raider II-class Corvette (48 + 8)
+ Overload Pulse (8)
Morna Kee (27)
Boba Fett (26)
Maarek Stele (21)
Dengar (20)
Tie Advanced Squadron (12)
Station Assault
Jamming Barrier
Dangerous Territory

How badly will I be beaten?

The no. 1 issue here is how to reliably get the raiders into position to trigger op, followed by a mid-range attack from Avenger.

It can be done, but is never easy in practice.

Having 2nd player and only 3 activations certainly does not help.

Might do disposable capacitors on them.

I have tried something similar with Avenger and a VSD but two raiders would do the same thing.

Though a different way would be to swap Screed for Sloane, and change up your Squadrons a little bit. With Sloane if you get accuracies on ships with your Fighters you get to spend their defense tokens which is perfect for Avenger! Also would let you drop a Raider and maybe try to get a Demolisher in there.

A good Squadron list that I use is:

Mauler Mithel - Dengar - Soontir Fel - 2 TIE Advanced, you can add more or focus on another ship and upgrades but basically with this you can passively kill enemy Squadrons while you target ships. 1 damage per squad with Mauler, they have to attack TIE Advanced so they take a damage from Fel, and then the TIE Advanced gets counter so possibly 3 damage to a Squadron without even having to attack it!

Slightly modified

Would definitely help.

Now tell me about your squadrons.

How do they fit into your plan?

I'm pretty new to imperial fleets. The squads are, in my mind, there to soak damage, hang by my ships and attack ships that get close.

I love pulse tap fleets, I'll say this much however. Bring enough ship. The issue with using a ship like the raider or the interdictor to pulsetap is

a.) That ISD is going to take all the aggro, there's nothing else threatening on the mat
b.) The ISD may not have enough punch to finish a ship tapped by a raider or the interdictor, based on the damage output of those two ships.

I'd be interested to see how this fleet plays out, let us know!

I've tried that exact Raider. The trouble is, you're investing 11 points of upgrades in a ship that goes pop hideously easily, for what is likely to be a one-, maybe two-turn gimmick. The likelihood of it surviving to go again are fairly slim, not least because to do so it has to move even closer to get off that second shot, and Raiders don't like getting close. Plus the only way to make it more survivable is to throw yet more upgrades on it - Tua plus a defensive retrofit is going to set you back at least another 7 points.

By the time you've taken two 59 point raiders, I'd rather take a Victory II with OP, DCs, plus a Gozanti. Roughly the same points, same activations, but both ships are more survivable in their own right.
