I was playing around with various Kari + Hawthorne + Deepwood Archer builds and noticed you can squeeze them into a 99 point army:

Kari Wraithstalker (32 points)

Lord Hawthorne (34 points)

4 tray Deepwood Archers with Tempered Steel (33 points)

Has anyone tried this out? It seems like the Archers and Kari could do enough damage to wreck the typical 100 point size formations, even if they only get a couple shots off. Use Hawthorne to keep enemies from reaching the archers and if need be send in Kari to toss daggers around to help clean up.

So being nitpicky; 100pt battles limit you to 1 hero. (Page 3, Characters section: one unique)

That said, yeah the 4x1 is nice. That auto reroll counters the normal issue of needing rank disipline. The wide range just covers a great deal of the field too.

I played a 200pt with these three plus a spearstar to good effect. Kari acted as my flanker. Once the archers did get engaged though, their effectiveness dropped quick, though I was using them heavily for dispatch runner so I was more focused on keeping them in range of my other units.

Definitely spam Hawthorne abiltiy, having those inspiration tokens to reset the tempered steel will be a great boon.

That's not being nitpicky at all... thanks for the correction! I'd forgotten that crucial part. I suppose I could put Kari, a 2-tray unit of archers and something else in, but it's that dreaded 4-threat Archers I was hoping to fit in a 100 point game.

Wait for heavy crossbowmen and get the 3x1s. Then you don't need Kari to add archers and you can use Hawthorne as a boon battery.
