Whisper + Vader + Lambda or Bomber Kylo

Using this as a 93pt frame, how would you use the remaining points? At least a 2 pt initiative bid would be nice but just curious about opinions.

Rebel Captive on the Bomber or Whisper brings you to 96.

Light-weight Frame on the Bomber brings you to 98.

Alternatively, skip LWF and throw some Cruise on Vader.

Harpoon missile on Vader, Intel Agent on WHisper, 2 point bid.

I'd give Kylo to Whisper. Gives you 23 points for a much more interesting ship - VI pure sabbac, munitions bomber, Omega Ace with PTL....

If you like the separate bomber I'd give Whisper Gunner.

I love the Whisper, Vader, Kylo combo - whatever you choose. Enjoy!

I wouldn't bother with LWF I think - you're going to be using your actions for Kylo and unfocused green dice aren't worth much.

for your consideration I like Weapons Eng on Whisper so she can switch targets without penalty in damage output. IA on the bomber to support Whisper and plenty of init.

Yea that seems like good advice.

Thinking I will try something like this out for the first iteration of this.

Basically, keeping it simple and going with the "best" version of both aces that fits at 98pts.

Goal would be to try and keep the shuttle alive long enough to land at least 2 ISTDs crits. If that happens he was worth the 19 pts.

If they go after the Kylo Shuttle both Vader and Whisper can sorta alpha strike one ship early.

Keep Whisper out of the initial engagement but if they go after Whisper take an evade action and Kallus will hopefully give her a shot at surviving the initial PS9+ attacks coming her way.

If they go after Vader turtle up behind focus evade.

I think the bigger problem is that I think the whole squad has balance issues.

You've got two aces: Vader whose dial means he will always be struggling to keep targets in sight and Whisper who needs to dance around the edges of a fight, at least while you PS0 anything with a higher PS and remove a threat or two. Either of those two makes a good flanking ace for a squad that will keep the opponent's attention elsewhere while they sneak around the back. Running them together creates a challenge, and then throwing a weak Bomber Shuttle on top that also needs protecting (and which delivers very little of its own) is not ideal.

Your final loadout @Boom Owl is probably exactly what I would have recommended (Kallus & Cruise Missiles going in) but I think it would still benefit from dropping Kylo Ren's bomber to just bring a third ship that can fight - IMHO those Blinded Pilots simply aren't worth sacrificing 20% of your squad for!

Yea your completely right.

Mainly looking for an alternative to RAC/Kylo Whisper that I can practice with and still give Whisper a shot against PS9+ Opponents.

Im thinking its safer just to swap in a Shuttle instead, since the Bomber simply dies to fast to have a chance at taking at least two Kylo Actions in the game.

Using Kylo here primarily for Damaged Cockpit instead of Blinded.

And then just hope and prey Whisper/Vader survive long enough to solo w/e is left.

Also been thinking of this as a kind of alternative to Whisper/Yorr/OL.

When I saw your initial post, with the bomber I came up with a similar list, but with Yorr instead of OGP and Adaptability instead of VI on Vader, but this might fair better, although you don’t have the stress mitigation Yorr offers, you get a 2 point bid and a PS 11, both are great and might compensate the lack of Yorr.

So....after a bit of experimentation. Having to keep Whisper out of the initial engagement all but guarantees Vader will take a bunch of damage.

Its super interesting to fly Whisper/Vader/Lamda on a knifes edge but so much can go wrong early.

So yea.........kinda already knew this was the case but.....QD is just much more reliable than Whisper to actual use from Round 1 through.
