Star Wars Clone Wars: Cyclone Squad IC

By Rabobankrider, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beginner Game

"Roger that, Gunslinger," Doc says as he grabs his gear. "Alright Cyclones, let's make this a day to remember."

2112 yawns as he gets up and into his armor, moving with efficiency, despite never liking waking up. Luckily, his training and conditioning meant he could quickly get combat ready, even while his brain was still halfway in dreamland. He checks his heavy pistol, and puts it into his hip holster, and prepares himself for the test.

"Well.. And your climby things. Grab them, too." Leading by example, Gunslinger proceeds to inspect and adjust his own ascension system.

Anler meets the clones at breakfast, seemingly calm and collected before the final challenge. He is wearing a slightly more functional armor than usual under his robes, thin armor plates covering his torso and forearms. It isn't as good as the clone's armor, but it might help keep him alive. "Good morning, Cyclones," he says as the squad enters the dining area. "I hope you are ready for the final challenge, because I am more than ready to get out of the rain on Kamino and out into the galaxy to win this war."

The canteen would be quiet this morning, with only a few other squads grabbing food. Most of the others were already out on exercises, preparing for shipping out into real combat.

When breakfast was finished, a clone with grey markings on his armour would enter the dining hall. He was one of the Kaminoan guard, serving the vital role of protecting the spawning point of the entire Grand Republic Army. 'Excuse me commander' he'd say as he approaches the table. 'It's time for your citadel briefing. Please follow me'

The guard would lead the jedi and his men through the pristine corridors of the great domed city till they reached a glass door that lead outside. There was four other squad lined up in single file outside, and a small group of three clones stood before them in the pouring rain.

One of them would step forwards, an ARC trooper with blue markings and with what looked like a cap that stretched from his shoulders down to his knees. Although he'd be a stranger to the jedi, the clones would recognize him almost immediately. This was Alpha-17. One of the most talented, feared and respected clones in the galaxy. His prowess was almost unrivaled in the republic, songs had already been written about him by some of the younger cadets. He was a literal legend.

'Attention!' he would shout as he moves to face the squads. 'I am Alpha-17, ARC trooper. Being an ARC trooper is something all clones aspire to, but before anyone can even think of joining the real elites, you must prove that you are the absolute best!' As he continues he'd begin to pace in front fo the squad. 'You are a family! And family sticks together, right to the end, no matter what! You are all bigger than the sum of your parts, you make something brighter, bolder than a single clone. You life with your family has already begun, but it will be set in stone with this test! Now then! Who should beat the citadel first?'

Slugger listened to the words that were given by the veteran clone trooper and was inspired, he looked around to his brothers seeing that no squad was volunteering decided to speak up, " Cyclone is ready and willing to go first ! " he said with much excitement. He was offering his squad mates up for the challenge whether they were ready or not.

Doc looked at Slugger when he volunteered Cyclone for the Citadel test.

Alright, guess it's time to get started , he thought as he tightened his grip on the blaster rifle's handle.

Alpha-17 would pause in his pacing in front of Cyclone squad. He would take a moment to examine their line before speaking. 'Ah of course, the special unit'. He would look at Anler and Gunslinger who would be head the line. 'Well, is he correct?' he would say as he looks between the pair. 'Are you ready?'

"Ready, sir!" Doc says with a salute, addressing Alpha-17.

"Five by five, Sir!"

Mynock didn't care when Cyclone begun as long as he got to destroy some clankers; it was all the same to this clone and he wasn't worried about the other squad competition effecting their ability to reach top score. Respectfully, CT-6180 snaps with a salute to Alpha-17 as he dresses his squad. Eager to reply, he still managed to allow Gunslinger to do the talking.

Anler looks the trooper calmly in the eye, or at least where the eyes on the helmet are. "Cyclones are ready," he says in a confident tone.

Alpha-17 would stare at the padawn for a moment through his helmets visor before nodding. 'Alright, if you're ready you're ready. Lets see what the Cyclones can do!' With that, the cadets and padawan would be lead back into the domed building and through a number of corridors till they reached an entrance to one of the training chambers. They knew this to be the place that the Citadel tests were carried out. They had been here before for training and preliminary practice, and had even sat in on a few official tests. The entrance wasn't the usual door that lead straight into the chamber. Instead it was a domed corridor that was unlit and ended in a circular floor panel. The ARC trooper would gesture for the squad to move onto the circle. 'Good luck, a lot of people will be watching today. Don't forget rule one, you stick together. Do that, and you'll make it'. With that the door to the corridor would slide shut, leaving the group nowhere to go but forwards. It was the moment of truth, make or break for Cyclone squad.

Slowly the elevator would rise up the shaft, leading them to the chamber above. After a moment a hatch above them would hiss open, and they would emerge in the well lit citadel training room. Like the other training rooms, it was comprised of the dark grey blocks and panels that allowed the trainer to change the environment at will. The clones emerged at the back of the room atop a raised section of the ground. Up ahead in the distance was the ominous tower they had to scale. It was bristling with auto-turrets, ready to cut the clones down at a moments notice. Of course the tower wasn't the only enemy out there. There were two gun towers that ran along the edge of the clones right flank, and two on their left. Their heavy blasters had the potential to fell an entire squads of clones in the field, let alone a single group. Between the cadets and the tower there must be at least thirty B1 and super battle droids, maybe more if the instructors felt particularly malicious. This was going to be the hardest fight that the cadets had ever taken part in. Pass, and they left Kamino for good, fail and, wel,, it wasn't worth thinking about. They had to pass.

As the elevator lifts them up, their coms would each echo the same instructions. 'Move across the field and capture the marker on top of the citadel tower. Speed is a top priority for this simulation, good luck squad'. Now it was time for the cadets and their jedi leader to act. In a few second the lights would turn green, the trial would be active, and all these enemies would be after their blood. There was time for final preparations within the last few second, but they would have to hurry.

Slugger readied his gun while they were being lifted to face the challenge before them. He checked his sights and made sure nothing was jammed, after a final check he began to spin his Canon's barrels. " Alright boys, it's Showtime!" He would say after they were given their orders.

Doc was silent as the elevator moved up, thinking about the chances Cyclone Squad had.

We have the Commander, but it's a lot of firepower here. But I know everyone can do it. I just have to keep up and shoot straight.

Doc checked the blaster rifle out, making sure it was working. His aim had proven true so far. He hoped it would stay that way.

Mynock would jog in place limbering up in the elevator ride with his squad. Just before the elevator arrived, he’d grab his blaster and hold it in a ready position. “ So, who gets to wave the flag marker? ... ” he questions grinning underneath his helmet.

As Anler gets onto the lift that will take him and the other Cyclones to the arena, he closes his eyes and focuses on his surroundings. He can feel how the Force flows through the clones and the surroundings. Before the lift comes to a halt he can feel the numerous battledroids and turrets waiting for his squad. He keeps up the focus, knowing that feeling an attack coming before it comes can make the difference between survival and failure.

"This is it, Cyclones," he says as the lift comes to a halt. "Remember your training and we'll get through in no time. Stick together, use the cover given and concentrate your fire on the most dangerous target. It doesn't matter who captures the flag, what matters is getting one of us close enough to claim it and not leaving anyone behind on the battlefield."

As the clones are about to step into the arena, the Jedi Padawan puts his hand on Gunslinger's shoulders. "You are in charge of the squad tactics. Just follow my lead using your best discretion, you know the capabilities of the squad much better than I do," he says to the soldier as ignites his lightsaber with his other hand.

OOC: Anler is committing his single Force Die to Sense. This will upgrade the first two attacks against him in any given round twice. In addition he has ranged and melee defense 1 and will use parry or reflect against incoming attack unless he starts to run low on strain.

"Looks like this first batch is all yours, then, Sir."

"Cyclones! Mynock, Doc, 2112. Take out the clankers on the left tower. Slugger, I'm with you on the right tower. Take cover, when you can."

"Let's move!"

"Don't worry about those droids, I'll tie them up, you just take out the towers," Anler replies as he charges forward towards the fire team of five B1 droids. Using the Force he propels himself into the middle of the group of droids, making sure they are focused on him, rather than the clones behind him, but trying to keep them between himself and the other droids on the battlefield.

OOC: Anler spends a maneuver to engage the B1s and then a second maneuver (burning 2 strain) to aim. Sadly, this is the result of Anler's attack roll:

Attacking the B1 droids : 2eA+2eP+1eB+2eD 0 successes, 1 advantage

For the single advantage I'll give the next PC to act gets a boost, inspired by the heroic commander charging in.

2112 moved onto the field once his squad mobilized, and began moving towards the left tower. He hated using his blaster, such an uncivilized way to deal with problems, when a good wrench could solve just about anything. Nevertheless, he took aim, and sent a cluster of blaster bolts at the droids defending the tower. He got a solid hit on one droid, dropping it in short order.

Pistols out, Gunslinger charges in with their Commander, but concentrates his fire on the right tower.. to little effect. "Just showing you where to aim that thing, Slugger!"

DescriptionRight Tower Droid gunner w/ aimResults 3eP+1eB+2eD+2eS : 1 failure [3eP=-, S/A, A/A] [1eB=S] [2eD=F/Th, F/Th] [2eS=Th, F]

(Aim, Move forward (suffer 2 Strain)- now at Engaged range w/ B-1s and ? Range to tower droid?)

Slugger takes aim and fires at the turret up in the tower, downing the droid easily, then rushes to take cover by Gunslinger, " Are you sure you don't mean you missed?" He lets out a hearty laugh.

Doc sees 2112 manage to take out the left tower with his shots.

That should put a spanner in the clanker's works...and I think I just got a name.

"Good shots, 2112...or rather, Spanner," he says on the comms. "Think I'll call you that for now."

Doc moves up. Seeing that Commander Anler was busy with the current group of droids, he holds his fire and them and instead takes cover, waiting for another set of droids to pop up.

As Cyclone takes out both towers, Mynock advances towards the citadel and takes cover behind a barricade. The clone scans the field for any further droids nearing his squad.
