Slugger helps Gunslinger up the wall after he failed his own attempt. The wall itself didn't lead to climbing it with brute force, it was too slippery for that but with Gunslinger up on top they could use teamwork to scale this wall.
Star Wars Clone Wars: Cyclone Squad IC
After Gunslinger drags Mynock out of the tunnel he takes a short jog to a wall. “ Can’t we just blow this wall down? ” he thought.
The clone would line himself up to the wall and with running start leap towards the top of the obstacle. Mynock body slammed this body against the top of the wall unable to reach the objective and slid down.
Regaining his wits he notices Gunslinger jump and climb on Slugger’s shoulders to the top. Mynock looks over at Doc and asks “ Should we give that a try? ”.
Edited by Vergence"Why not?" Doc said to Mynock. "We've tried just muscling it. That didn't work out."
"You get up on my shoulders, then. After you get to the top, get ready to pull us up."
With Gunslinger already up, Anler sees that the clones need to organize. "You two," he says, pointing at Doc and Mynock, "Set up at the base and help the others up. Gunslinger, you pull us up and then help Doc and Mynock."
"Roger that, Commander." Doc said as he started to set up one half of the base. "C'mon, Mynock, let's do this."
“ Yes, sir! ” Mynock says as he moves into position next to Doc. “ Ready when you are Cyclone !”.
Anler gets boosted up by Doc and Mynock, but fails to grip the edge of the wall. Luckily for him, Gunslinger manages to grab his arm as he is about to fall, and together they manage to get the Jedi commander to the top of the wall.
Doc, with the help of Mynock, boosts up Anler and sees him almost fail to get up, only to be caught by Gunslinger.
"Alright, Mynock, you first." Doc says. He helps get Mynock up the wall, then backs away for a bit. He gets to a running start and jumps it as best as he could. However, it wasn't enough.
As Doc was about to fall, though, a hand came out and grabbed one of his arms. It took a second, but Cyclone Squad would pull the last brother up the wall.
Edited by satkazAfter Doc & Mynock ensure the Commander, Slugger, and Jackpot made it over the wall, he proceeds to jump. The climb was little stressful even with all the incouraging words from the squad. But, the clone was successful at overcoming the obstacle and made sure to toss Doc a helping hand once at top.
Jackpot runs along and easily gets up and over the wall helping Doc as he came over as well.
As the squad clamber up the sheer surface, the cube would suddenly drop back into the floor, letting the cadets proceed to the next obstacle. Obstacle might be a bit of a stretch for the description, what this obstacle included was about five or so sergeants holding rifles set to stun. They stood on one side of the course, the other side being made up of a bunch of small blocks that would make decent enough cover. The objective seemed simple enough, run through the blocks, don't get shot. Of course, nothing was ever that easy, but one could hope so.
Gunslinger spots five shooters, before ducking behind cover.
"I say we just go for it, all at once. Use the blocks for cover, and hunker down, if it gets too heavy. I intend to press for the far end of the obstacle, without stopping, if I can. Commander?"
I will try to complete the obstacle in a single turn, using
Side Step to Upgrade the incoming attack (and taking 1 Strain).Anler nods slowly. "There isn't enough cover out there, and since we can't fire back, we can't try to suppress them. All we can do is go as one, push hard and fast and try to drag any fallen through," Anler says to the clones. As he does, he reaches out through the force, concentrating on the sergeants, trying to anticipate their action. "Sadly, I can't use my lightsaber to block any shots, it wouldn't be within the parameters of the exercise."
He looks at the clones and steps closer to the course. "As one!" he shouts, leading the clones into the fire
The sergeants would grin as the squad make their valiant charge, zigzagging between the blocks that made up their defence. 'Alright, let them have it!' With that a hail of blue shots were sent towards the cadets and their jedi. The sergeants were less focused on hitting a single target and more about creating a blanket of fire. It seemed to work as well as Gunslinger, Jackpot, Doc and Anler all felt the sting of the blasters. Gunslinger would feel a blast connect with the side of his helmet while Jackpot and Doc took shots to their legs. Anler would almost be able to avoid getting struck, but takes a shot to the shoulder as he passes by the shooters.
They weren't standard stun rounds, they had been designed to inflict pain over knocking out an individual. It was like getting struck with a cattle prod, electricity coursing through their muscles. It may not knock the down, but it would slow them until the effect wear off. 'Come on! Are you trying to get shot?' one of the sergeants would shout as they eventually reach the end of the obstacle.
The squad was half way around the course by now, only a few obstacles were left now. The constant sprinting broken up by the the intense physical exertions of the obstacles would be taking its toll on the cadets, but it would certainly benefit them on the battlefield. The next obstacle that they ran towards was an odd one, and a favourite of Swapar. There would two large holes int he ground where the floor panels had been lowered. These two holes formed a pitch black tunnel, which the sergeant had decided to fill with water. The objective was simple, swim through the tunnel from one side to the other, don't get stuck. The clone suits may give them some protection, but they weren't vacuum sealed, and wouldn't keep them safe indefinitely. Fortunately the swim wouldn't be too long for a good swimmer.
Slugger made his way through the hail of gunfire unscathed and reached the pool of water before him. Turning to his brothers and the commander who were finishing their run, " Looks Like we are swimming boys!" He then dives into the water and quickly gets to the other side of the tunnel it want his best time at 50 m swim but that was likely due to the armor being on while he swam through Swapar's tunnel. He waits for his squad to finsih their individual swims.
Gunslinger winces, as the blow lands on the side of his helmet, but keeps on running. Guess I zigged, when I should've zagged..
When he finishes running the gauntlet, he dives into the dark water, despite his misgivings.. he gets turned about, somehow, but manages to find his way out the other side.
"You swim like a fish, Slugger!"
Doc felt the sting of those shots badly.
"Ah, guess I'm a doctor, not an athlete..." muttered Doc as he got through.
As the pool of water comes up, Doc swims, hoping that his luck would get better. It doesn't. He gets separated from the group. While he thinks he has the way forward, all it turns out to be is a shadow.
At this point, Doc can't hold his breath for much longer, and panic starts to set in.
"Frakk, frakk..." he thinks as he tries to swim out. And that's when his mind starts to calm down a bit. "Focus, Doc. Just keep swimming..."
And that's when Doc gets through the other side, gasping for breath.
"It'd wouldn't take long, they said..." he would mutter.
Edited by satkazAfter Mynock zig-zags through the stunfire volley safely, he approaches a water hole. The hole is supposedly a short tunnel the squad is to dive into by swimming across to the other side. The clone steadies his breathe again and dives with confidence.
The distance of the swim felt a lot longer than expected. At first, Mynock struggled with discovering a solid swimming technique with the cadet armor on but, he pushed through to the other side merging. " Are we the first scuba troopers to across in standard issue cadet armor? " he chuckles.
Jackpot manages to swim across but is unable to help the struggling Doc.
Anler quickly gets into the water, which feels much colder than it should be. Seawater pumped in from the ocean, most likely, he thinks as he gets over his initial apprehension and swims through.
The second to last obstacle was rapidly looming up on the squad as they near the end of the course. Other than being soaking wet and some of them having scorch marks on their armour and clothing they had fared well. It may not be a record time, but it was respectable to say the least. Of course, the exercise wasn't over yet, they could still turn this around, but it was going to take a lot of work.
This obstacle had to be reached by running up a series of the floor panels that had made a steep flight of steps. This lead straight to several grapnel writes that had been stretched across a large gap to a set of identical blocks on the other side. The objective seemed to be to clamber across one of the wires to the other side. Falling off didn't seem to be too risky, other than a few bruises they would be unharmed. That's not t say it wouldn't be unpleasant experience. The space underneath the climb had been covered in a thick, slimy looking mud. Where this amount of mud had been found in Kamino would be one of the planets many mysteries, but this was not the time to investigate. If someone did fall they would have to walk around the obstacle, but it would take time, and it would be difficult in that mud.
Doc went up the wires and started to clamber on the other side.
"Hold steady, hold steady..." he would think to himself. But the swim took much more out of Doc than he anticipated and seeing Gunslinger fall down didn't help matters. The poor clone was almost about to drop to the mud when Mynock got a hold of him.
"Thanks, Mynock. I owe you one." Doc said.
Doc got up the wire again and clambered once more. And again, the swim took much more out of Doc than expected. Nearing the end, Doc decided that it was better to try and swing to the end. Hopefully, he'd catch the edge. With a couple of swings, he let go and let gravity do the work for him.
However, Doc had misjudged the distance. The swing wasn't enough for him to land on his feet. By a stroke of luck, he managed to catch the edge with his hands, but an audible smack could be heard as the rest of his body impacted the face of the wall.
"Frakk...I'm gonna need to get a medic myself at this rate..." Doc said in squad comms in between breaths as he climbed up to the other side before sprawling himself on the floor for a moment. Getting up was a bit tricky as everything seemed to spin around him, but hopefully that wouldn't affect the next obstacle. Hopefully.
Jackpot takes a step back and launched himself up the wall from a running start. Once at the top he reaches a hand town and helps Mynock get closer to the top before going down the other side and waiting for the rest of the squad to catch up.
Being soaking wet from the last obstacle, Mynock found the steep floor panel steps challenging at first. The clone paused to release the heavy remaining water from his armor so he'd have the strong form required to cross the grapnel writes. Of course, when crossing to the other platform, Mynock identifies Doc needing a little balance assistance by physically guiding his form across. He says " No need brother! Almost there! " trying to stabilize his breathe again.
Once he crossed the first half of the obstacle, the clone somehow wedged his foot between panels moving through the steep flooring. "Really? " he thought. After taking time to release his foot carefully, Mynock swiftly seized the wire crossing to the otherside. " Is there any obstacle your not astounding at Slugger? " he jokingly questions.
Edited by Vergence" No, I'm just that amazing." He would laugh as Mynock an the others were making their way up the current obstacle. Slugger had waited for his squad to try their best at the obstacle course ahead of them he had decided to go last on this challenge but he still seemed to out pace his brothers and even the Commander! Weren't Jedi supposed to superhumanly agile and fast? Maybe he wasn't using his powers to not upstage his troopers that's probably it.
