Timmoran Shards

By RizzOwnd, in Runewars

I had this happen during my groups last playthrough of Runewars. One player's hero had gathered up 3 timmoran shards through questing, and already controlled 3 dragon runes. So the next hero quest phase, he just rolled his hero into a Stronghold, and discarded all 3 cards to essentially win the game.

Just wondering if I'm missing any rule in preventing this kind of victory, or is this just the luck of the draw?

Wow, 3 shards? That's not going to happen very often, since there's only 5 shards in the deck of 25 cards.

The best way to prevent that is if your opponent is getting a lot of rewards is to attack them with YOUR heroes.

It is also important to remember that the Questing Phase is not part of any players "turn." This is significant because certain tactics cards (Lost City, Band of Brigands, etc.) can't be played during the Questing Phase and have to be played during the time a player is resolving his order. This also means that a hero cannot gain those three dragon runes during the Questing Phase and would have to do it during their order card's resolution, giving players a small opportunity to take dragon runes or territory from him. After all, if he doesn't have the additional three spaces to place those tokens, he won't be able to claim victory.

I'd have to double-check the verbiage, but because the Timmoran Shards are reward cards, and say something like "discard while your hero is at a stronghold", I would think that would indeed happen during the hero quest phase.

As for having 3 of 5, believe me, I was **** shocked as well. I figure that probably won't happen again anytime soon.

Thanks for the feedback!

rofl thats unfortunate. in our play group heroes never survive to get a second reward. as soon as someone gets one the rest of the players swarm him and take him down faster then fast. then the rest of the hero phases is a clean out blood bath about getting rewards back
