Rings might be back, sort-of...

By 9thimmortal, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Okay, although I keep buying CP's, I have been out of it for awhile. Not that long, seems like GenCon was just yesterday (and the awesome Battle for Lannisport in Seattle). But between quiting big-city banking to take over the family bank in Nebraska, selling the house (sold in 2 days for cash BTW), working 2 weeks in Nebraska and then flying to Seattle for 1 week...let's just say it has been hectic. The good thing is that I was on the front page of the New York Times and the Wayne, Nebraska Herald in the last few months...~not sure which had more readership! :)

Anyways...first, hope all my friends are doing well - looks like I still see some names I knew along with a bunch of new, entergetic names which is great.

Second, any players in Nebraska, Western Iowa, South Dakota, South Minny? I will post on the metas area as well for aGoT and Warhammer.

Lastly, can someone give me a 30 second rundown on the online playing. We have always beat around the bush on having this, and it looks pretty nice. How does it play? Are all sets legal or are they doing the 'wait period'? And, yes, I know it is all below on a 12 page thread - I was just hoping for a quick recap :)

I hope to get back into playing. But, let's just say I don't think I will keep my streak of four top 3 placings in Worlds this year. I will be lucky to bring a legal deck :)

Thanks in advance!

OCTGN is really well done.

The game play is easy after you learn a couple of tricks on how to do certain things (put cards in play face down, look at those cards, etc.), but people will be more than willing to help you out with all that stuff.

Currently, cards six months old and newer are censored. The cards are still represented in the game, but their text is blank. Although, if you love your scanner, and unzipping and zipping files, you can add your own card images as I understand it.

Rings-

Glad to see you back. If you ever find yourself over here on the east side of Iowa make a post at Critical Hit Games in Coralville. We have a strong meta here and we are growing, both AGoT and W:I. I look forward to the possibility of seeing you sometime in the future.

When were you on the cover of the Times? I can't beleive I missed it! The Times is part of my morning routine.

Even I saw the NYT acticle though from a link from Matt's Facebook post. And too bad I'm more central Minny, as it makes it that much harder to get together. It would be fun to play both GoT and W:I. Maybe something will come up that I can actually make it to.

5.5 hours to Coralville...whew!

It's only 330 miles... you can stop at Shives' to use the restroom. :) And it's still closer than Cambridge, MN or Springfield, MO sadly. Hope to see you at some point.

Well if you both make it out to Kubla... gui%C3%B1o.gif

i have the specific criteria if you still need it on the online format! let me know if you haven't been walked through it yet! never stop playin' friendo!

your story hit a little to close to home for me matt! after a near fatal car accident i too needed my family and they were there! without them i would be jobless, homeless... i completely empathize with your mother and camend you on your uplifting spirit and compassion! you're a gentleman and i'm sure your wife feels lucky to have you man! hope to see you around AGoT online! keep it up sir......

Well look who it is, Rings himself. Good to see you back, hope all is going well for you!

Sounds like you've had a pretty busy life, but don't think that excuses you from coming to Indy to get Valar'd first turn! I owe you one. ;)

Thanks everyone! ~and, yes, Huse, everyone should be 1st turn Valor'd someday in their life ;)

So many events I would like to go to (Kubla, the big MN deal, any Regional)...do they ALL have to be in the two craziest months of my life (April and May of this year)? :)

I should make one of them, however. And still trying to hit Indy, but that is always tough with my wife's birthday being 8/13.

Gencon was kind enough to bump up the date this year to accomodate those of us with anniversaries or spouses birthdays in the middle of the month. Doesn't mean you're any less busy, but might make it easier!

If the application goes through Kubla will also be a Regional...allowing you to kill two birds with one stone. Just saying gui%C3%B1o.gif

I've heard talk from Valar that you and Luke will be coming down to Springfield for our regional? :D
