evasive maneuvers and revealed cylon players

By evenor, in Battlestar Galactica

Hey all.

Long time reader, first time poster.

Here's a question for you: Can "evasive maneuvers" be used by humans to defend the Vipers when raiders have just been activated by a revealed cylon through the cylon fleet location (rather than regular activation on the crisis cards)?

We had a game last night and the Cylon player argued that, given the rule that revealed cylons are unaffected by abilities and certain aspects on crisis cards, evasive maneuvers *cannot* when the fleet is activated by a cylon.

My understanding is that, while the Cylon player himself can't use the abilities on the cards, there is nothing preventing the humans to use them. A comparable example is a revealed cylon player activating basestars (again through cyclon fleet location) and unrevealed cylons playing Strategic Planning cards to make sure Galactica gets hit.

Thanks for the input!

Evasive maneuvers can be used. The card reads "play after a viper was attacked", and you can play it whenever applicable.

Cylon players themselves are immune to the effects of skill cards - this immunity does not extend to any effects they trigger. Once raiders are activated, they don't "care" what effect activated them.

Btw, the same line of thought would have you unable to play Investigative Committee or Scientific Research on a crisis card played by a Cylon player via the Caprica location. This is obviously not the case.

That was our original understanding as well, good to have a second opinion.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Amusingly, an unrevealed cylon can play evasive maneuvers if a raider missed to re-roll the attack.

"Look out!"

"But they already missed me."

"....... Look out!"
