Is a slow down required

By EpicBubbleSA, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Just been thinking although I enjoy getting new information every Monday, the fact that demons have yet to be released and we are already getting more units for humans and undead seems a bit well off. I know a few players in my group have a starter set but are really waiting for demons or elves to start spending big and building a army. Honestly I wouldn't mind if we had more Lore flavoured news articles for the next few months while the factions get equal access to units. Especially cause I find the big drawback to the game is the lack of meaningful lore that can grasp players imaginations.

You mean the players without imagination needing to be fed lore? An imaginative player builds their own lore.

I think we'll round out the year at This pace, next year will slow a bit as he game catches it's stride. The pace is required to keep the new factions and hype moving.

Burn.

I see where you're coming from, but dude.

I would love some lore, if it's as good as the L5R stuff they've been putting out.

The new faction units will probably be the only new stuff we see until the elves and uthok catch up. I assume it's so the Daqan and waiqar players don't get bored of 6 months with no release.

Im also speculating based on the upcoming page that uthok will get the command pack same time as the core releases so they will be mostly game ready from day one.

I was a P&P guy (my gateway to gaming), we always DM'd from the world building up, so the whole demand for lore is always a bit odd and uncreative to me.

When you just play with a small group, creating lore is fine, but if you are playing with strangers on occasion, it's nice to have a cohesive story that everyone can refer to.

I wouldn't mind more lore-based articles. I enjoy the spoiler articles that they do, but I'd honestly be completely fine if they only announced each product and then didn't say anything more about it until it was in stores. That's because half the time the spoiler articles are just lame sauce or remove all the surprise of opening a box yet they also don't tell exact contents usually so you also aren't helping people know all that they're buying.

I'd gladly replace spoiler articles with lore and strategy articles as long they still have something every week. And they'd also have to have a convenient place to have all the lore articles in one place so newcomers would actually find and know about them.

I think they are holding out on the lore until they start releasing Genesys module reveals since, the module would probably end up being 1/3 lore anyway...

does not get any slower then the boat with death knights on it.

Lore is one of the best tools to sell units. If FFG wants to push their fantasy setting they need to put out stories for it like they are doing for L5R.

infact they should just make a L5R miniatures game that is 100% compatable with runewars and has mixed events.

See: not an armada player ?

Personally I'm not a huge Lore guy.

I can't say that when I go against a stranger I talk to them about the different lore aspects. We're usually busy trying to understand each other's interpretations of rules, more so than lore. I just wish there was a rules admin, that would come in and answer our questions about rules instead of a FAQ that came out 6 months after launch, and who knows when the next one comes...

I agree that the spoiler items lack, but look at Maegan. We got lore, about her father and his connection to the Uthuk, and the reason for her drive to push the Uthuk out. We got her dials, and we got some of her upgrade cards. Not a lot, but I couldn't imagine wanting to buy Maegan if I were a Latari player without knowing her dials and at least some of the options for her upgrades (as this tells you about how she should play)...

@Jukey says it best, the new stuff for Waiqar and Daqan won't be out before Uthuk and Latari are a bit more rounded out. I suspect around the same time Uthuk gets their second hero, Wraiths and Scouts will start being close to coming out. things will round out before then. I also think Wraiths were FFG's Gencon release that they couldn't talk about due to an agreement with the Star Wars licensing. And you can't release Wraiths and leave Daqan without something similar. I think the upcoming weeks we will see more Latari and Uthuk articles. We still don't know the dials of anything that's not the heroes for Uthuk. We also are missing the Leonx expansion article which I believe will be Monday's article. Soon will be the release of the Uthuk range which, lets be honest we all know is going to be Viper Legion with some kind of poison mechanic, maybe just blight for simplicity sake, but I hope for poison. I mean right here we have about 6 or 7 articles. All before the end of November I would bet. That's 9 weeks away, so there isn't much room for alternative articles. Also as @Darthain said they're just trying to keep the hype train moving so that they increase the customer base more and keep people interested. You saw how bad it was when we went one week without a release. Imagine having a week where there isn't a new unit release, or unit/hero update...

@Curlycross Oh I agree that one was good. Some of the spoiler articles are actually good like that, but I'd wager that's less than half of them. So far most have been like, "Here's what's in the box... *insert generic upgrade that everyone has 3 of*" That may not be technically what they all are, but that's how many of them seem to me. I imagine that'll get better as we move further from the "core" units though.
