MC30s are hard to drive.

If its any consolation, it did take me 3 minutes to find it, since it was in the main forum.

Mc30s have more survivability then any hull 4 ship has any right to be

First, let me confess that I have primarily been an Imperial Player and I have gotten pretty good, if I do so myself, with Star Destroyers. But last night I was helping my friend learn the game so I took a couple of MC30s (we were only playing 200 points for his first game). I have fought MC30s more times than I would like to count and they seemed to be really great ships. I like the red black combo of their dice and they are fast.

So MC30s may be fast and hit hard, but they don't turn very well, especially at speed 4. I know it was my first time with this ship, but I was really surprised how hard they are to fly.

Speed 4 is for leaving the fight. Deploy at speed 2, bank a Nav token, and throw Navs up until you attack, where you throw a CF.

Torpedo version, OE, APT/ACM, H9, Admo/Foresight. Optional: Lando, SFO, AP, or RBD.

3 with Mothma took 5th at Worlds. The list is ******* brutal.

Maybe... but more survivability than any 63-point ship? Comparably-priced ships:

73 - VSD1
72 - AF2B
69 - MC30S
61 - QF2
63 - MC30T
62 - GSD2
62 - Arq/C
60 - Pelta/C
59 - Arq/LC
57 - NebB/E
56 - GSD1
56 - Pelta/A

Also, you're probably mostly talking about Admonition, which is another 8 points on top of that, putting the two variants solidly into medium-ship points range.

Repair techs must shudder when they see an MC30 leaving for a mission...

I fear more for the people who have to date a captain of an Mc30

(and I am only talking about the personality those people must have :D)

... dafuq is this?

It sounds like some kind of game, where everything's made up and the points don't matter.

Games like this stress me out.

How can you not have rules??

There are rules, they just arent that important. You have to talk for 60 seconds on a subject without deviation, repetition or hesitation.

To be fair, MCxx ships had weaker hull but extraordinary shielding. So techs would replace a lot of blown out shield projectors compared to repressurizing area of the ship.

Their problem is that the helmsman was the doof warrior

I have never used Admontion.

Then you haven't lived that MC30 life to its fullest quite yet.

*Drops mic*

I'm a lot better with them after 20ish games (but definitely no expert) as I learned how to enjoy watching them be destroyed a lot while I learned what others have said in this thread. Go speed 3, have a token turn 1, take SFO (for that 1 turn you want to CF) or just nav the whole game, and be bold. All things I've learned from reading several threads about the MC30s that have popped up in the last year or so... seriously, go search for them and you'll find some more gems.

Oh and their worst nightmare is an XI7/GT ISD2... my regular opponent nearly always plays that and that's why they've died on me a lot.

try using a Raider, you opinion of the MC30 will change after that

If you can learn how to consistently beat that ISD combo, your shrimp will become nigh unkillable.

Yeah... I didn't mention my opponent likes 2 of them. I can usually fare well against 1 with good maneuvering (love Madine for this, but not strictly necessary), but 2 is just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! And he prefers JerJerrod... jerk.

Yup. Essentially XI7 is a counter to MC30 lists, so the only way I can see is to outactivate him (Should be likely vs 2ISD list) and go for last-first layered strikes.

I learned a lot from the multi MC30 builds threads (especially from @Ardaedhel) so I eventually bought 3 MC30s to run with Jaina's light and 3 flotillas. This was before wave 6. I can often beat the crap out of an ISD but not always take it out, while usually losing at least 1 MC30. I don't want to derail this thread too much though. I think the main point is that yeah when you run into an opposing XI7 ISD fleet, that's a solid counter to MC30s. Tricky to handle. And ISDs are seen quite often in our local meta (and it seems in many others as well).
