The "We want Space Station models" thread

Today I received The Corellian Conflict and wasted no time in looking through the contents. Among the cards I came across those two cards and thought to myself how cool it would be for these to be made into models. Not just models, but in the box with each space station would come plenty of cards and objectives. They could even be part of a campaign box, or something like the Epics in X-Wing where each ship comes with a few missions.

Out of the three different looks of the space stations, I'd want the Armed Station most with the space station token coming second. The Unarmed station is my least favourite, but if FFG build it I will buy it.

Make one!

Are you agreeing with me or telling me to make one myself?

Just in case you are suggesting I make one, I've got my eyes on the Space Station box set from Hawk Wargames. Might pick up a couple of boxes to make a few stations. But I'd still hope to see at least one made by FFG.

Dropfleet Commander has a really cool space station set that is just like building blocks for stations and you can build them however you want. They would totally work for Armada.

That was the "Space Station box set from Hawk Wargames" I was talking about when I said I "might pick up a couple of boxes" .

The imperial shield gate from Mel's Minis looks dope.

That it does.

I imagine a Battle of Scariff mini-scenario pack would be a relatively easy & popular expansion pack to put out. Seems like a no-brainer really.

Some new cards, a few Striker & Uwing models, the gate & boom. Done.

Personally, I'm really adverse to "retelling" scenario battles. I find them boring. Disinteresting and disappointing, too, in some ways.

I don't want the Battle of Endor. I don't want the Escape from Hoth. I don't want the Battle of Scarif.

I want to be making my own Star Wars stories. Playing and telling things that didn't happen in the spotlight.

Also, the "Armed" station in on the card is a Golan Platform of some variety, an official Star Wars station design, as lovingly depicted by Mel in his stores.

I was suggesting that you, yourself, Ghost Mouse, the person, make one. From scratch. But, you could also make one from other kits.

I want the skyhook station as a epic mode game piece

I would like one of the construction module/stations in orbit of Geonosis that appeared in the Rebels Season 2 episode "The Honorable Ones," but with one slight twist. I don't a perfect replica. I want FFG to build it so a single squadron that is somewhat shaped like a VCX100 can pass through and blow away a couple of AT-STs as it does. :D

I couldn't upload an image, but that would be awesome.

I'd imagine any space station would be epic, but it looks like that station wouldn't take up too much table space. Ships could potentially fly underneath the lowest arms and the base size wouldn't have to be huge to support it. Much of the weight would be up the central main body.

I'm sold on the Skyhook. Not knowing about it I looked it up. Aside from looking cool, there's both Canon and Legends information on it. Only thing I couldn't find was whether or not it was armed.

Being in Rebels means they stand a good chance of being released if FFG makes space stations.

AT-ST turret upgrades would be fun too

Will do, unless FFG release a station first.

That would be a good start. FFG could put that out to see how well it would be received, then move on to other stations.

I agree with that, I want to tell my own Star Wars stories. But a shield gate scenario would be easy to adapt to our own stories and campaigns. I've got The Corellian Conflict but I'm not going to play the Corellian Conflict, instead I'm going to adapt the rules to my own ideas. Same with a Scariff scenario box. I'd buy it for the shield gate and rules, which I'd adapt to my own ideas.

I have a space station model and a full set of terrain....and right after I got it, the company that made it got hit with a cease and desist from FFG, and went out of business. I even hand made nebula terrain, not that I ever use it....

I bit the bullet a few days ago and ordered a variety of Mel's miniatures (thanks so much for your epic quality work!). The order includes one of each of the XQ series stations. Not only are they great models in their own right I have a lot of nostalgia from TIE Fighter and X-Wing.

I don't have much faith that FFG will produce things like stations or freighters any time soon. With limited resources they are far more likely to make new games ala Legion rather than double down on existing, even successful, systems. Grab different market share, rather than fully exploit existing market share, seems to be a pretty common business idea these days.

I've seen pictures of said space station from said company and it is a shame, understandable though the lawsuit was , that they had to stop. Had I gotten into this hobby sooner, I might of been able to pick one up before the company was shut down.

I still check in on eBay from time to time to see if there's any available. So fat there's only the Battlefleet Gothic Blackstone Fortress, which I'm debating picking up.

Easiest is to get a Starfleet space station from MicroMachines. It's pretty much already a match for the cardboard picture without doing anything to it, but you can mod it if you want. Glue it to a plastic strut and then use any method you want of giving it a stand. I went with the option of putting it on a piece of acrylic cut to match the cardboard, but that's way overboard.

Be careful. My Blackstone fortress ate more flight stands than anything other model. It was a heavy model for its size. I ended up replacing the plastic peg so many times that I eventually used a drywall screw epoxied to the base. Even that broke loose twice.

Gunboat

Over in the X-Wing forum there is a very long topic asking for the Gunboat and they got it. There was even the suggestion, if I read it right, that FFG do take notice of the forums.

I've started this topic as a long shot, not knowing if it'll ever happen, but sometimes long shots pay off.

Alternatively this topic will fall off page 1, sink low in the forums and be forgotten for all eternity. It's up to those who would like to see space stations to keep this topic alive.

Either way, though I've started playing Armada I'm holding back on collecting more since I have models I'd like to see, have a reasonable expectation of seeing, and want to make sure I have enough savings to splash out on once they're available. While space stations are not on that list of models to save up for, I'd certainly spend to get them. Even though not technically a space station, the Scariff shield gate is an example of one such impulse buy, as are habitation domes from Rebels. If that Skyhook appeared as an Epic scaled model I'd make sure I could buy it on release day.

I'd probably forget the stand and let it sit on the board. Looking at the pictures it has a flat bottom.
